How can I tell the real emails from the fake ones?

I keep getting emails saying I have inherited money etc. I know they are scams But I just got one saying it's from the FBI and they want me to provide information to them regarding money deposited in a US bank for me. How do I check into this??

It is a scam to get your personal information and/or money.

    Do not respond to it.

Report it to yahoo, so they are aware.

Forward to spam@yahoo.com or spoof@yahoo.com (If it involves a lot of money)

And for your E-mail safety, remember:

Never open E-mail unless you are absolutely sure of who sent it, treat ALL others as spam.

Never give your personal information out to anyone, be it E-mail, snail mail, phone calls or at your front door.

If you ever have a doubt about the truth of something, you can go to somewhere like snopes.com and do a search.

It's pretty easy - They are all fake. No real company/person will ever ask for bank information, SSNs, addresses, passwords, etc. In other words, ANY personal information. Even if you get an email from "Ebay" (pretend here that you have an account there) saying that you need to re-verify your information by clicking this link. Don't do it! You can always just go to the ebay site and login properly. If there really was an issue, they would then tell you at that time - but the chances of that are near zero!

If the FBI really needed to chat with you, they'd come knocking on your door. And your bank? They will never contact you via email to have you give them information.

They are literally ALL fake. Just throw them out and don't think twice.

The real ones are from people you know. The FBI and the government in general - jury duty, etc. NEVER e-mail. The use snail mail since it is free for them anyway. Click Full Headers and it the return is a Yahoo or g-mail account, copy and paste ( with full header) to abuse @yahoo.com or g- mail, etc. Msn, others have scam departments, too.
