I had this same problem on my computer and found out that it was because I was running 64-bit vista. For some reason the standard IE7 or lower web browser had this problem with this version of windows, 32-bit vista works fine. I found out that my computer had three versions of Internet Explorer, regular version, 64-bit version, and the No Add-ons version. I started using the 64-bit IE version and didn’t have any problems with the kicking out of Explorer issue, but Adobe has not made a 64-bit compatible Flash player yet, so anything that required Flash wouldn’t load up on web pages. Then IE8 came out, when I upgraded I found out that they had fixed the problem with the 64-bit operating system issue. Now I can run the regular version of Explorer (with Flash) and I have no problems. Not sure if this will help you or if you run 64-bit but it worked for me.

That's because internet explorer is a terrible web browser. You should try out Google Chrome, or Mozilla Firefox. IE has finished last in a battery of internet browser tests, and the only reason most users still use it is because they don't know how to or don't want to update.
