How much protein do you need?

Approximately how many grams of protein should I consume each day. Is there a formula I can use to figure this out? I am pretty active. I do cardio and lift weights 4-5 times a week.

The average person needs about 100 grams, people attempting to build muscle should have between 1-2 times their body weight (in pounds) of grams of protein.

A bit more protein than what you need doesn't hurt though, so don't limit your intake because you think you're going to get really muscly, your body just passes out what protein it doesn't use.
