Normal or abnormal Mirena IUD side effects?
I just got mirena fitted 5 days ago. Since about 2 hours afterwards, I have had bright red heavy bleeding (no cramping), my legs have felt crampy and I'm really tired. I know that there can be some irregular bleeding at first, but the blood looks exactly like I cut myself, it doesn't look like period blood at all. I'm not sure wether to call my OB or not. Anyone have Mirena and have symptoms like this? Is the type of bleeding normal? That's what I'm most concerned about.

Bleeding can be common when you first have Mirena inserted, the bleeding should subside, with all progestogen only contraceptives, dysfunctional bleeding is common at first.
If the bleeding becomes very heavy or you are in serve pain then contact your Doctor.

I had my Mirena fitted when I was having my period, not sure if that's because its easier to insert of if the doctor wanted to make sure I wasn't pregnant (I live in a very catholic country). The cramping and bleeding should ease off in a few days once your womb gets accustomed to the device.
You may experience spotting on and off for a month or 2 and then you should find your periods get lighter or even stop altogether (mine have)
Give your OB a quick ring if you are worried but they should have given you a leaflet explaining about what happens when you have the device fitted.

I actual have had Mirena considering that might 2009. I actual have had NO issues of it. sure, i spotted the 1st couple months I had it yet via August it stopped thoroughly. each as quickly as in awhile i gets some blood while wiping, yet no longer lots or reason for concern. and that's according to risk as quickly as each 3-4 months...if that often, even. I actual have not had any weight benefit, or ruin outs, or undesirable cramps or something. don't have it got rid of except it motives YOU issues. and a great form of the lawsuits might have no longer something to do with Mirena and be from something else, yet they think of it truly is cuz of Mirena.

Many women experience bleeding after insertion which lightens after a few days. Based on your description, I would call you OB and check in with them - better to be safe than sorry!
