How can Christians verbally bash people and then claim that they follow the 'thou shalt not judge' rule?
I only ask this because regardless of your beliefs on atheism (for example) and regardless of where in your faith they come from, you verbally bashing any of them, even in retaliation, seems like a judgement call to me. You telling the pagans and the homosexuals that they are going to hell also seems like a judgement call. I understand you want to 'save' us and 'bring us to the light' but I also thought that the only judging that could be done would and should be done by God himself therefore aren't you taking upon yourself the job of God?
Forgive me if this question has been posed before but I have come across some new avatars tonight and I am curious what they will have to say for themselves.
Thank you Modern Day Puritan, I really do appreciate that you are so concerned with my soul and possible destination in the afterlife, but you still have not explained to me how calling out my sins for me is not in fact judging me. If I called you a fanatical, holy rolling, bible thumping man who was going to the garbage disposal in the sky when you died, would you not take that as me judging your character?
I am going to leave the best answer choosing up to all of you because I still have only managed to find some people who think like I do and then some who are still using their circular logic and "God told me to" ideas. I appreciate all input and would like to thank those of you who are honest with yourself as well as me.
Blessed Be

If you ask me about homosexuality, or adultery, I am free to give you my personal opinion. If you ask me what the bible says about these things, I have to answer you using the scriptures. If you do not like what the scriptures say, why do you accuse me of judging you? The word of God judges you, I am simply a messenger. Judging someone is much different than correcting someone. Judging someone is to make ourselves appear as God, while correcting someone is to help them be more like God. If I say to you: "You are a sinner for doing such and such, you are going to hell" That is a judgmental statement.
If I say: "The bible says that type of behavior will result in eternal damnation". It is no longer I who am passing judgment on you, it is Gods word which passes judgment on you. I hope this helps you to understand the biblical meaning of judgment. Reprimand, correct, rebuke, advise, all of these can be confused as being judgmental, when in fact they are clearly taught in the scriptures to help the unsaved come to knowledge. Only God can judge a person.

Romans 13 tells us that the government is given the flexibility of the sword to punish the evildoer. hence, brokers of mentioned government at the instant are not committing homicide while they flow to shelter their united states of america and shop it secure. via an analogous government, the argument could be made that they are protecting the lives of the harmless, an analogous way as a guy who kills in protecting his kin is harmless of homicide. And via the way, TRANSLATION and notion are 2 numerous issues. purely using fact some translators lack information, or the English Language lacks the flexibility to make issues sparkling as they have been interior the unique Greek does no longer advise that God did no longer motivate the Scriptures and use humanity to pen and shelter it.

its not judging by proclaiming what God says that all who do not repent of sin and ask to be saved will not receive eternal life.
That is the message God proclaims
personal judgment was what God was talking about in not judging.
proclaiming the message of God is not judging.

none of us are perfect dear. that's why we are all in need of christ's atonement. we're all here to learn from our mistakes and keep trying. it's human nature to want to defend something you believe in. we can sometimes get caught up in the moment and "bash" as you say. but that's not the christlike side of the christian coming out. that's the human side. i'm sure you have weaknesses too. but that doesn't make you a bad person. i'll admit, i've done some "bashing" myself. and i know it was wrong. i need to repent and try to go about things in a different way. also...i agree that it's wrong for people to judge. but that is also a human attribute. we see the flaws in others, but we can't seem to see the flaws in ourselves. please forgive us for acting this way. as i said, it's not the christian side coming out.

That's not "judging" people at all. Warning people of future judgment to come has nothing to do with "judging people". Rebuking people of their sin also has nothing to do with "judging people". The reason why this bothers you is that your conscience is pricked when people speak of sin, judgment, and hell. But please.... don't take the "thou shalt not judge" WAY out of context like so many people do, and try to apply it to those who are warning others of sin, judgment, and the need for repentance. Go back and read about John the Baptist...or read the the first epistle of John in the Bible. They didn't mince words.
Source(s): The source for all truth - God's word. Are you a good person? Here's a quick test. Have you ever told a lie, stolen anything, or used God's name in vain? Jesus said, "Whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. Have you looked with lust? Will you be guilty on Judgment Day? If you have done those things, God sees you as a lying, thieving, blasphemous, adulterer-at-heart. The Bible warns that if you are guilty you will end up in Hell. That's not God's will. He sent His Son to suffer and die on the cross for you. Jesus took your punishment upon Himself. "God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." Then He rose from the dead and defeated death. Please, repent (turn from sin) today and trust in Jesus, and God will grant you everlasting life. - Anonymous1 decade ago
Shhh, you're not supposed to point out their flaws. Don't you know that they are the self-righteous ones and can do no wrong. And if they do wrong, well, it's in god's name so it's okay.
See how their logic works?

They love to think they can speak for God.
"It was God's will."
"God hates fags."
"God will understand."
"God made me this way."
"God wants you to..."
