I was flying out of Jakarta few years back. All the passengers were asked to ON our laptop. The authority connect it to their laptop and scan through it.
If you are not doing anything wrong, why need to be scared? They are just doing their job, a normal precedure.
*On my trip to Hong Kong later that month, i found out that only in Jakarta do they scan through our laptop*

I don't get what you mean by "attach case". Are you trying to say you were carrying a briefcase ?
Anyway, the other answerers said, at every airport passengers are subject to full body check as well as having all their belongings checked. Yes it true but the people who do the checking are airport security personnels and in the case of arrival by the customs. Checking belongings of passengers is not the duty of the immigration. Even if the immigration suspected something was in the briefcase, they will inform the customs or airport security personnels to do the checking. The duty of the immigration is to check people ( passengers ) not bags, luggages or briefcases.
I think the officer who opened your briefcase was not an immigration officer but either the police or airport security personnel or custom. I think the officer was trying to threaten you into giving him bribery of RM1000. For your information, there is no such fine. If a passenger brings prohibited goods , the goods will be consficated and if a passenger brings taxable goods, he will be asked to pay duties. There is no such thing as fine.

World airport Immigration got 101 % Right to check every things. not only Malaysia ! If you go to USA, you even have to take out you Shoes ! there even check you underwear . Steps in to other country, please respect local LAW. if you don't want to open the attach case in USA or UK ( ha ha in UK ) the police or security even Special police/Amy will show Gun immediately in fire position ! you get lock-up in 30 second by more then 3 security people , ask UK people ? WHY ? can any visitors don't open attach case in Landon airport. ? if answer is YES, need not to open, paid the 1,000 RM fine, i will paid you back 10,000 RM . If requested to open any case in World airport , no visitors ( even transit Passenger ) can denied to do so !

An attache case ? That means on business, or a job ? If you do not have a business/employment visa and you declare yourself to be on social visit, you better open up to show that there are no "business matters" inside that case.....if you do not comply with instructions, you may be sent back to the transit lounge to await the next plane home....with a blinking mark against your name .... Equally, if a visitor answers questions wrongly or behave suspeciously when passing thro the Immigration checkpoint in the UK, a visitor may not be allowed to enter.....

I think immigration officer has the right to request if the case is considered to be suspicious. And this apply to all airports in the world.
