how to soften brown sugar?

i have a container of brown sugar that is hard a rock is there a easy way to soften it.

    Pop it in the microwave for about 10-15 seconds.

    There is a ceramic disk that you can buy that you soak with water then seal with the sugar.

    Put it in the microwave for a few seconds. that's worked for me in the past.

    peel an apple and put the peels in with the sugar..as it loosens mix it around to break it up....will take a few days..

    a piece of bread can help soften it too... but I have one of those clay discs- works great!
