why can you kick the ball from behind the boundary line?

soon as the ball is kicked over the boundary line it out of bounds right. why can you take a free kick or mark behind the boundary line and kick it legally, surely soon as it leaves the boot, the ball technically is out of bounds

Update:

what I'm saying is that the person should kick the ball from where he marks it instead of going back, the person on the mark should be moved forward then this fixes this annomarly I think the person who marks the ball shouldn't be penalized, that was a good mark but you have to go way back on some silly angle out of bounds to kick it, they changed the silly angle bit if you mark in the goal square maybe they could change it all around the ground, just putting out the idea lets get it technically right just like we did with the hands in the back rule when going for a mark it always annoyed me that you could push someone in the back when going for a mark but no other time didn't make sense to me and this rule doesn't either it's like the umpire turns a blind eye to it the ball has been kicked even if it's out of bounds but it's should go into play so that's all right lets have the same rule right around the ground not just a sometimes rule

Update 2:

my idea is to move the man on the mark in 10 metres in towards the goals and let the player kick from where he is awarded the mark or free kick it seems unjust that a player takes a screamer in a goal kicking position then has to go back and especially on the boundary line struggle to hit his target because of the narrow goal space from behind the boundary line in the deep pockets I realize they run out to increase the angle but quite often miss maybe they might trial my idea in the pre-season cup

also my idea might cut out some of the handball turning it back to football

well do u follow AFL if u dont here's what happens so if what u said would happen why bother paying free kicks and takings marks outside the boundry line so technically your'e right but that would be a complete waste of time if u did follow the 'technical' way like that

    get it

    good question though

I'll address the 'silly angles' when kicking for goal, they line you up with the center of the goal square, that's why you get put onto an angle.

Another thing is when taking your kick from over the boundary line, if you run off a straight line it should be called play on, and the umpire should award a ball in, they never do though, you see it once in a blue moon, i don't think most of the umpires know the rule.

All that matters is that the player marked the ball when it was in the ground. They then go back, to have the kick. The man on the mark who is defending the ball, will be standing where the player marked the ball. The player cant take the kick from there otherwise the ball will be smothered and turned around. So the player goes back to kick out, outside of the line.

Players mark the ball before it goes out, otherwise it would be out of bounds. On that kind of angle, you run around the side and kick around the corner.

Players don't actually kick the ball from behind the boundary. They either run around in an angle or kick the ball when they are actually in the field.

as i understand the rule it will be out of bounds if you kick from outside the white line but they don't pay

and what are they supposed to do with the free kicks from "out of bounds on the full" calls??
