How the heck is Texas ranked below USC?
USC lost to unranked Oregon State and plays in one of the worst conferences in the nation. Come on now, creaming Washington and Washington State is like playing against an Elementary school team. Texas lost to the #6 team in the nation. Go figure.
Bob, I never said that USC ran up the score yesterday. Maybe I should have said that Washington is horrid and has been for years. I live in the LA area and am quite aware of USC talent, but no one can argue that losing the merits of losing to an unranked team versus losing to a ranked team.
As for the AP poll yes, Texas is ranked five, but the USA Today Poll has them rank below SC and gave Oklahoma a number 1 vote, and yes they ran up the score to give Sam Bradford numbers.

USC is a media darling team and the media will do their best to get them to play for the NC
If everyone else just does their jobs and wins, then it won't happen.

USC did not run up the score. Did you even watch the game yesterday??? The score before halftime was 42-0 and they ran the ball for the REST OF THE GAME. Went it comes to sportsmanship, Pete Carroll is the best of the best. Yes, many people will look at our shutouts in the last 3/4 games and think we ran up the score but that is naive. Watch replays of the games and you will see the bulk of all those scores were from the first two quarters. The ball did not leave the ground in the second half. USC has an INSANE defense that will trample any team unless theyve got a migit running back like Jaquizz from OSU and the other twig from Arizona last week.

Hey, what have you done for me lately. That what the voters are saying, Texas lose yesterday and USC win over a cream puff Washington by the score of 56-0, so that's fresh in the voters mind and they go with USC. You lose late, you go down. The team i have a beef with is OU, can you explain to me how OU got 1 first place voter in the coach latest update poll? Or How OU is ranked higher than Texas, when Texas beat them head to head. Go figure.

you can say whatever you want about the rankings but saying USC ran up the score you are wrong.
they scored on every possession in the first half making it 42-0
in the second half they ran up the middle with their 5th and 6th running back. they also had their second and third string defense in against washingtons first string offense and they still shouldnt score.
if u dont know what your talking about stop posting stuff about USC, Texas isnt as good as in all around team as USC and regardless of who USC lost too thats the truth.
the only argument people have is they lost to oregon state, if they hadnt people would still be saying this is best USC team Carroll has had which means best team of the decade.

That is a similar amount of points lost by OU when they were #1 and got beat by then #5 Texas, but Texas went to #1. Texas Tech didn't make it that high for some (big 10) reason.
Source(s): Every Slam on Penn State is because they have only played One Team, Ohio State. Beating Oregon State by a lot is not an impressive feat. That doesn't mean Penn State can beat USC by 50 points. - Anonymous1 decade ago
It's a "what have you done for me lately" process. Yesterday, Texas lost and USC ran up the score and won by 56. Right or wrong, that's just the way it is.

It is because the voters want USC in the national championship game. They have fans that travel to bowl games. Means more money for NCAA. Just like OSU the past 2 seasons. Their fans are nationwide and will travel.
