upgrading or downgrading ?

so I did a test to see what kind of vista would be good for my laptop and it said vista home basic :(

well right now I have xp pro on the laptop

so would I be upgrading or downgrading the operating system if I install vista home basic

    i would check out forums of people who have the same lappy as you do that upgraded to vista. The big thing on vista is having enough ram memory. I wouldn't do it unless you have at least 2 gigs. Windows 7 is also suppose to come out sometime next year :).

    Vista is actually one of the small basis that Mac is attacking Windows on. So to Mac users you are downgrading since Vista ran faster on Apple based hardware. And i personally think Vista is just flashy.

    However, it is very nice and i like.

    I would go to it if you had:

    Recently new laptop

    2 gigs+ of RAM

    2.4 Ghz Duo processor (or better)

    and patients of a saint... i would assume that the change is going to aggravating
