Any good books you recommend?

I'm always alone so my past time is reading. What are your favorite books that you might recommend someone like me?

I'm 23 so please don't tell me to read Twilight or Harry Potter...

I am typically into chic lit, but recently started reading a series of mysteries by Diane Mott Davidson. They are culinary mysteries and the first in the series is called Catering to Nobody. It's a pretty good series so far, I'm on book 5.
