Cheap flights are not gone forever, they're just harder to find and occur less than they used to depending on dates, airports leaving from/arriving to, etc.
Try this site- it is a Travelocity.com and AIG travel insurance partner site and it is worth checking out to see if the pricing is right.

Hope that helps your family!

I'll assume you have been living under a rock and not watching the news for the past year... so I'll tell you what you have missed.
NINE AIRLINES have gone out of business since January 1st.
Over 40,000 airline EMPLOYEES have been laid or or fired
The Airlines are losing about ONE BILLION DOLLARS A MONTH due to the high cost of fuel.
Over 400 AIRPORTS no longer have even a single flight a day going to them.
One Airline grounded their ENTIRE FLEET of one aircraft type.
The airlines that are still operating have REDUCED their flights by 40 PERCENT and the remaining flights are OVER BOOKED.
Airlines are charging for ALL CHECKED BAGGAGE... they no longer give in flight snacks... you have to pay for a pillow and a planket or a movie or even a cup of coffee.
Thanksgiving is traditionally THE BUSSIEST TIME for the airlines and they usually CHARGE MORE at that time of the year.
NOW... given the current conditions... just HOW do YOU think you are going to be able to get a cheap flight?
If you MUST GO... then be prepared to PAY FOR IT... the days of cheap air fare IS GONE FOREVER.

A high fall is certainly among the speediest ways to die: terminal velocity (no pun intended) is about 200 kilometres per hour, achieved from a height of about 145 metres or more. A study of deadly falls in Hamburg, Germany, found that 75 per cent of victims died in the first few seconds or minutes after landing.
The exact cause of death varies, depending on the landing surface and the person's posture. People are especially unlikely to arrive at the hospital alive if they land on their head - more common for shorter (under 10 metres) and higher (over 25 metres) falls. A 1981 analysis of 100 suicidal jumps from the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco - height: 75 metres, velocity on impact with the water: 120 kilometres per hour - found numerous causes of instantaneous death including massive lung bruising, collapsed lungs, exploded hearts or damage to major blood vessels and lungs through broken ribs.
