Quantum Leap was one of my favorite shows. Name a better series finale.?
It was so sad when Sam learned he would not be going home.
No happy endings here.
Few shows have ended on such a thoughtful note.
I have to admit Newhart was good.

It was a different ending. But the right one for that show. It was a happy ending, because Sam is happier fixing things throughout time then he ever would be going home.
Better series finale: How about "Newhart", where Bob Newhart woke up in bed with his wife (Emily) from his last series, and discovers the entire "Newhart" series was just a dream his last character had. That was really good.

Dewcoons has it spot on! Nothing was more brilliant or more original than the ending of Newhart. But I did love Quantum Leap, too. Great show.

Beauty and the Beast, and the Xena: Warrior Princess finales for two. I personally refused to watch the last episode of Xena for at least a year; then again, I'm a hardcore fan.
