Helium Tank Disposal?

My wife bought a small helium tank to blow up balloons for our son's first birthday party. What's the best way to dispose of it? (That is, how are you supposed to, not what's easiest.)

after it is completely empty you can take it to a recycling center. Curbside pickup doesn't usually take it, but you could look it up on your local garbage pickup information page. Google "helium tank disposal" AND "your city, and state"

It should be recycle-able so check with your nearest recycling facility

Make sure and inhale all of the rest of the gas in it to make your voice all crazy high. Then when it is empty throw it in the nearest river.
