Could you recommend novel where the story unfolds in Vietnam or Cambodia?
Afreind of mine is going for a month trip to Viet nam and Cambodia. I taught it would be funny to give him a novel that could give him a scent of the place before he goes there...
I would be verry pleased if you could help me with that!!

A novel to recommend : The Sea Wall by Marguerite Duras.
It is as well in Cambodia and in Vietnam, at the time of Indochina colony.
A movie from this story as been made recently with Gaspar Uliel.

Not novels, they talk about Vietnamese (and Cambodian) culture and how to adjust to the differences. Definately a good read for someone going there for more than a few days.
