She can definitely be having nightmares, no child is too young for them. Especially if they have been exposed to an upsetting movie/TV show or even something unsettling in her environment :)

Very early. I'm not sure exactly how it works but my son Will developed night terrors when he about 18 months old, he use to have an occasional bad dream even when he was an infant but it just become ridiculous around 17-18 months and the doctor said he was having night terrors and would eventually grow out of it and gave me a list of calming techniques to use when he woke up screaming at night. Will is six now and at least two nights a week he still wakes up in a cold sweat, screaming at the top of his lungs - when he was two we had to give him his own room because he kept his twin brother awake. At 4 we moved him to a different hall, far enough away from his brother and sisters to not wake them but still close enough to me and his father so he didn't feel like we were secluding him or abandoning him which would have only fed the nightmares. My younger daughter Brianna had horrible nightmares from the time she was a year old until shortly after her 2nd birthday but seems to be doing well now, she had her first nightmare last night in more than two months.

I've had babies have nightmeres before, and they were as young as 8 or 9 months. It's very possible that she is having nightmeres. Think back to what she is watching during the day or shortly before bed. Maybe change a bed time snack. A really good book that my mom got for me when I was little to help with the subject is "The Monster At The End Of This Book" it's a Sesame Street book with Grover that shows Grover being scared about a Monster and taking all these steps to stop you from turning pages and when you get to the end it shows only him. Child psychiatrists use it to help kids with fears so it might be something to see if you can find it.

As young as a few months old. She could very well be having nightmares. Things like fighting in front of her or something scary on tv is all it takes.

My daughter would wake up crying for no apparent reason at about 2 months. She needed nothing and she wouldnt drink her bottle when I offered it to her. The doctor just said she was having nightmares and that it was nothing to worry about and eventurly she stopped having them so frequently.

Yes, thier mind is so active that age. And they see a lot of scary and different images through the day. Scary, meaning "different". I explained, verbally to my son throughout the day about everything. It makes them more comfortable.

I'd think probably at any age (well, of course after they are born) I suppose. They just would not remember any, that's all. Nearly any of us remember our dreams in our teens. Well I usually don't. x]
