I'm from Australia. There'd be many and varied opinions, surely. My own view is that America is a wonderful place, with wonderful people...it also has some idiots, like everywhere else. It has flaws, like everywhere else. It can be a place where the greatest of dreams can be realised.

If I had a general criticism, it's that Americans tend to be quite insular and this leads a lot of people to think that Americans suck. But I think that the generalisation of insularity stems from America's affluence. If the best and worst of everything comes in one neat little package at home, there's no real need to look outside.

Having said that, America gives more in aid to the developing world.

Overall, I love the place and its people.

    Bill...

I have a cousin, who's served in the USAF, for about 30 years now. He's served in the Army and Navy also ! Hell'uva man he is !!!

He's been all over the world... and then some !!

One thing he has always told me, is, Americans [as a whole]

are very lazy people. Not to offend anyone.. I'm pure bread American !!Born &True!! But as a nation itself? We are !!

We've got it TOO easy here !! We take some of the simplist

things in life, for granted. From, An Asprin... to a music note, played on an instrument !!

I don't know many perspectives on the issue. Obviously the opinions would vary, but there's a general desire to come to America because there's opportunity. In a place like where my parents are from, people think America is way better and easier than it actually is. In places where America has ****ed up, people probably think we're arrogant, fat, and lazy, and developed countries competing with us might see us as having a poor work ethic. I think it must be positive with a lot of people because of how much immigration floods our borders, but negative with many others because many times we don't handle foreign relations all that well.

Ah, a question like this constantly brings the USA of a of america-haters out into the gentle. of direction, there is a few metaphorical actuality to the question...all people who denies the impression of yankee custom around the international is an fool. "Coca-cola," an American icon, is the 2nd maximum broadly spoken notice in the international. (quantity one is "ok.") Media businesses around the international usually checklist what's happening in united states of america of america, whether or no longer their handle it quite is favorable. it quite is not American conceitedness which motives those issues to ensue. (no longer that there is not any longer conceitedness in united states of america of america...even though it pales in assessment to France). it might look the international is curious approximately united states of america of america. of direction, the USA of a of america haters would ought to learn purely somewhat actual history to comprehend why it quite is so...yet whilst they choose to characteristic it in basic terms to conceitedness, it quite is their own conceited prerogative.

In the UK there is an ambivalence. Many people visit the US, and many people have friends and family there. They also watch US films & TV shows and like American music. However, many people also think that the American people are obese ignorant idiots who couldn't find Europe on a map.

Well, I live in Ireland and the attitude is split. On the one hand, people think Americans are complete retards, destroying the world, which is basically what the rest of the world thinks. In addition to that, we find it highly irritating when every single American tourist we come across says "Oh I'm Irish!" - no you're not! Your great-great-great-great-grandfather being Irish doesn't make you that!

However - the Irish also appreciate the money tourists bring, and there is still a culture of young people "going to America" for a new life, so lots of people have close relatives who've moved over there, and in that way people see it as quite positive. But I'm afraid mostly it's negative. The things that make America look bad to the rest of us are:

    George W. Bush

    Born-again Christians, religious zealots

    How America is so self-centred

    BUT the good things are:

    great culture, music and films

beautiful places that everyone wants to visit.

I think America is a country of freedom. Look at Disneyland and Hollywood, the creativity is from the positive effects of freedom that you have in this country.

The negative is : people are too free to do whatever and express themselves that it is a bit out of control, things such as extremely violence and R-rated movies.. that might affects the society in the long-run.

Other thing is i know that 2 out of 5 people are obese in America (is that right?). That is really scary.... I like McDonald, but to date, i still not able to take the milkshake, as i am really not sure what it made from....

    i'm from ireland.

on tv, america seems like a huge place where there is lots of crime like shootings and murders. many people are obese(but that is mostly the same in other countries) america sounds like an alien planet with everything twice the size. i can't imagine living there. i would love to see the scenery though and the people are meant to be lovely (once again it depends)

it seems like evrything comes from their , fashion , food, toys ect.

    sounds wonderful though!

i suppose you cant always judge what you get from the television!

you have to see it through your eyes yourself. because everyone sees things differently , all of our answers will be different.

but for those who say that america is stupid , i'm sorry, have you see ALL of america? have you met everyone? heard their story?

    i bet not.
