Is anybody else out there confused by, and tired of, bad info about NASCAR?
Lately I've noticed a lot of misinformation about NASCAR and the France family. IE: International Speedway Corp. is owned by NASCAR. The France family is ruining NASCAR, etc... Being a devout NASCAR fanatic for over 30 yrs. compelled me to do some research. If you go to the ISC corporate web site you will find some amazing info. What did you find out that was most surprising to you?

The France family runs Nascar, but you have to remember they are governed by Nascar Rules, it doesn't just happen because Bill France says so...he is a huge influence yes, but he has to answer other people also.
it is a Huge Sport and Huge Money is behind the sport.
I have been a Nascar fan all my life, and let me tell you, it makes me boil to hear the people that do not know the sport or what and who is behind it to make false comments..
it stinks....

That this is nothing new.
When the Bruton Smiths claim NASCAR and the France family has a monopoly they could be right, and then the " conflict" of intrest by owning tracks and running NASCAR .This was simular to the 60's break down when France and Markam got into it and Markam purchased USAC stocks and creating ARCA.
So an age old question and no real answer.

ISC is a publicly owned company created by (and ran by) the France family. They have majority ownership still. So, technically, it is not entirely false to say that ISC is owned by NASCAR. It is just poor wording.

Their stock value is steadily increasing, ratings are increasing, they consider themselves a racing entertainment corporation and finally they are fans of "wild Thing."
