Can you be pro life and pro gun too?

I see serious conflict with the reasoning behind being both pro life and pro gun. What seems to make more sense to me is pro gun and pro choice, or pro life and anti gun. What do you think?

I understand exactly what you are saying. Is it something like this...............

If a person (christian or not) were truely pro life, would they blow up abortion clinics and kill the people therein just because they disagreed with their views?

If a peron were truely pro life, would they kill an individual that attacked them, instead of rendering them incapacitated, and allowing the authorities to handle them?.

If a person were pro gun, knowing the statistics about having guns in the house, and even if the guns were used for "sporting" events, isn't that still killing.............the animal was alive, and now it is dead................wasn't the animal killed?

Clearly they are in direct conflict.

I don't think that pro life and pro gun are related whatsoever, so being both would be no conflict at all. I'm in the military and I carry a weapon with me everywhere I go right now. I have never had a round leave the muzzle of my weapon unintentionally. It is my firm belief that people kill people and guns are only an instrument used. If you take guns away people are going to use or invent new ways to kill others and the same problem will arise creating an "anti kitchen knife" movement or whatever they come up with. On the other side of your question I am a proud father of a 9month old baby boy. He is my pride and joy and my wife and I can't wait to have another. I hope I could shed some light on your question maybe from a different perspective.

Well I'm actually both pro life and pro gun. I reason I personally have no right to take another humans life.

Unfortunately there is such rampant gun crime that most people feel that no one should own a weapon.

Gonna get some heat here but.....

The NRA is right about the right to bear arms, it goes along with the Constitution. The part where if the government is not working you should scrap it, and start again.

Seriously you think its gonna be a peaceful march and they ll do as we ask. Get real. If your not armed it wont mean much.

I know I contradicted myself but Americans are getting soft and bull!@#$ed into believing all this peace crap soft touchy feely language. Our forefathers were not doing nonviolent sit ins they when exhausting all other means used force to bring a conclusion.

Just because I am pro gun does not make me a ruthless, physco maniac that does not care about anybody or anything. I am very much pro life. Both with unborn children and everyone around me. I see no conflict at all. I enjoy competitive shooting, the security of a handgun in my home, and recreational shooting.

Only a liberal state of mine is anti-gun and pro choice.

You're assuming that pro-choice means Pro-Death, which is of course rubbish.

People who are for gun ownership believe that guns help preserve democracy by preventing the rise of oppressive internal armies. They also believe in the right of the citizen to defend themselves.

These beliefs are perfectly compatible with being anti-abortion.

I see where you can get confused but let me ask you this brief scenario if you were alone in the subway and a guy is trying to rape/harm you, and you defend yourself, and kill him, are you anti life now that you took a life to protect your own? Now if i buy a gun with the intention of protecting myself against someone who wants to take my life, i feel i should have that right, but i can also still value life. I can be pro life because i stand for the preservation of life, im not going around killing people just for the hell of it, but if someone is trying to take my life by the means of harm and he happens to be a 6 foot 300 pound man, please believe he will get blown away.

I am definitly pro life AND pro gun. As a christian I believe the right to life and as a mother I believe in the right to protect my family. I am christian but I would blow away anyone that came into my home where my children are!

You can be anything you want to be. I am pro choice and anti gun. Just because that may not make sense to you doesn't make it wrong.

two completely different things. guns are for defending yourself/family and there is also a recreational side. In any of these could someone die? yes, but that is only if the person holding the gun has the intention of murder. or there is a freak accident, just like getting hit by a car is a freak accident. should pro-lifers not walk down the street now because they might die?? sounds ridiculous, just like your question

PRO LIFE JUST MEANS YOU WOULD NOT KILL SOMEONE. PERIOD. AND I DO MEAN PERIOD. IF A PERSON IS REALLY PRO LIFE AND SAY THEY ARE AGAINST IT THEN WHY DO PEOPLE LISTEN AND WATCH VIOLENCE ON THE T.V. SCREENS. OR WHY THEY STILL EAT MEAT. YOU CAN BE BOTH. IF SOMEONE BREAKS INTO YOUR HOUSE AND YOU DON'T HAVE A GUN. WHAT WOULD YOU GRAB THEN TO SCARE OFF THE INTRUDER. A KNIFE OR A BAT IS NOT AN ANSWER. IF WOULD STILL FIGHT YOU IF YOU BOTH. BUT A GUN I WOULD LEAVE YOUR PREMISES. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT GUNS DON'T KILL PEOPLE BUT PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE. IN CANADA PEOPLE HAVE GUNS. BUT THERE NOT KILLING EACH OTHER. ASK YOURSELF THAT. WHY THE U.S HAVE SO MUCH CRIME AND OTHER COUNTRIES DON'T HAVE AS MUCH.
