Why did my tree frog die?

My bf knows I love frogs and have been collecting them for years, so yesterday, he surprised me with a real one, but today, i came home to find it lying upside-down dead. It was a baby golden tree frog that he got from a reptile show. We followed the instructions he was given; we had him in a tank with moss and a plant, had a UV lamp on him for 12 hours, sprayed the frog and the tank with water so he wouldn't dry up, had a bowl of water in the tank for moisture and drinking and baby crickets to eat. I thought we did everything right, but now it's gone, before i even had the chance to find out if it was a male or female or properly name him/her. Did we do something wrong or could it have already been sick before we got it? I don't know where the sellers got the frog or if it was taken care of by whoever found him. And I did notice it had weird pink/red markings around it's mouth area (what is that?) and seemed a little underweight, but I don't know. What happened to my new baby?

sounds like the frog had an infection somewhere in it jaws. must not have eaten any of its food, and started bleeding inside of his skin. you much have been taking great care of it by the description though

have you looked on the internet to see the ACTUAL care sheet on a golden tree frog chances are that maybe the directions the person gave were incorrect, it could have been from stress, perhaps to big of crickets, does a frogs water need some special stuff in it?, like i dont know much about any frogs sorry but it could be of many different causes like i said the wrong information for the habitat, the poor thing could of have been sick all along, maybe the frog was to young?, crickets could have been to big(i dont know if that matters for frogs) was the tank you had cleaned out before did you use soap or bleach (NOT GOOD) only use water or a mixture of water and vinegar (close to no vinegar it does the job) and for the markings i couldnt help you out there anyways i dont know if i even helped you oout i hope i did a little anyways it sounds like it was in NO way your fault so good luck with the next one!

The pet show probably gave him poor care
