Relocation to Ottawa, Ontario?

Can you advise of any locations in the Ottawa area to avoid regarding living accomodation.

    Vanier is the roughest part of Ottawa there are others...

    Mechanics Ville,

    Donald street, Hetherington street, Dynes Road, Somerset Street East,

    There are lots of little areas that are not the best but are in a larger area that is fine. Really I think you just have to look at the places. Like St Patrick street is fine but there is a homeless shelter on there so the one end can be rough. There are lots of areas like that in the city.

    When I first arrived, I was told to avoid Iris and Bayshore. Hintonburg is also an area you probably wouldn't want to live in. Otherwise, it depends on what you are looking for.. urban, rural, suburban, rowhouses, single homes, apartments, highrises, etc. Ottawa has a wide range of neighborhoods. If you are looking for something with mass transit convenience, check out octranspo.com and look at their transit/bus maps.
