What Is The Difference?

Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E6850 (4MB L2 Cache, 3.0GHz,1333 FSB)

Intel® Core™2 Extreme QX9650 (3.0GHz, 1333FSB, 12MB L2 Cache)

What is the difference in performance other then more Cores, and a difference in cache.

    1. Core 2 extreme has more L2 Cache

    2. Core 2 extreme is quad- core

    3. Core 2 extreme has an UNLOCKED multiplier unlike that e6850. Good for overclocking.

    4. Core 2 extreme is about 800bucks more expensive than core 2 duo e6850.

    5. Core 2 extreme is better performer.

    6. Core 2 extreme runs HOT.

    You just answered the question, the extreme has more cores and larger cache. So it will have much better performance.

    The E6850 will fall somewhere in between the E6750 and QX6800 in the charts.
