A new year is a very religious day in Japan.

Japanese do fireworks in the summer time, not in the winter.

And it's customary to go to shrine/Buddhist temple, not to

    go see fireworks.

Just like your town doesn't have fireworks on Christmas day.

In Japan, when people hear "fireworks" they imagine "summer".

I guess people don't relate fireworks to new year celebration.

BTW, the one at 101 is very beautiful.

This one is really nice. I would really love to see a *behind the scenes* of how it was done. Was it the nicest in the world for 2008, hard to say. Maybe not. One of the nicest, for sure.
