Can I Get A Witness?

How many of you have witnessed those who abuse Y!A by pretending to ask questions in this category - but are not looking for answers - and whose real intention is to play "preacher" instead?

Update:

I am speaking of those who make a habit of it. Do you really care enough to do something?

I would imagine that any one and everyone who has come to this forum has witnessed such by Christians, Muslims, atheist, Jehova's Witnesses and even a few Wiccans.

I have also noticed that many of these individuals use "cut and paste" rather than demonstrating the ability to comprehend facts ina rational manner and to transmit the same in their own words. At some times, cut and paste may be the best way to provide an answer however, it is often over used.

I have not seen a Buddhist use these upsetting practices yet.

I am a Muslim, so my comments regarding the Muslims who use these practices can not be seen as insulting nor biased against them.

Yes, I have. But I have also witnessed people pretending to believe something they do not really believe, just to hassle people. So as long as you obey the Community Guidelines, it's OK to ask anything, including my habit of saying "What is your reaction to this quote?" It has the form of a question, it is not rude, and in fact, I really want to know people's answers. But I also want to get the quote in front of them so they will think about it. What's wrong with that?

Who cares? I read what I want to, and ignore the rest. I know, there are guidelines, but I'm not much into rules anyway. I don't like prayer requests because they're not really questions either, but, again, who cares? As long as they don't make a habit of it, I just let it go. Now, if it got to be where that's all that went on here, I'd speak up about it. But, an occasional one? Nah.

when I see those questions, I just by-pass them. You can tell who they are and what they are trying to do, so I don't even look at them.

There are thousands of other questions to answer if I want and I just ignore them.

There will always be somebody on here who will answer them and give the asker what he wants.

But he will never convert anyone by asking if that is his intention.

so, no, it does not annoy me

i don't think that they play preacher. i think that people want to try and get a point across to others, concerning their beliefs.after all this is the right place to voice opinons, so to speak. this way we all share in viewing what people think on this and many different subjects. i agree at times people ask really strange or stupid questions. thats why we can choose who or what we answer. think this site is great. may it continue for many years to come.

I don`t think it is all bad. Sometimes the best way to get people thinking is by asking them a question. It is a very effective way to communicate. When Jesus baffled the leaders of the temple when He was 12 years old the Bible says, He was listening and asking questions?

"as you know... God himself gave us all the greatest power to see. Would you give it away for a billion dollars?"

when he didnt have to mention his faith at all

and when i asked a question about christianity... all these people were mad because i did not know .. even though non-christians dont read the bible like i guess they assumed

Many times. But when I answer with a non-answer, I get a violation notice.

    indeed that does happen BUT

sometimes i answer questions just to be silly/funny and it's not a real answer at all.

That works both ways-for and against, ya know.
