I've been teaching for 26 years and this year I make $42,000. I put in at least 60 hours at week for my job both at the school and at home doing paperwork and have been injured on the job several times, once while trying to break up a fight and they turned on me. I supervise athletic events at night to supplement my income. I really think that teachers and police officers and war-time military personnel should be paid as well as lawyers or non-specialist doctors.
