An interesting article to say the least,
I agree with the statement on euthanasia, people who have no quality of life and are in constant pain and wish to die, let them, the difference is that the family are involved in this decision and can watch there loved one go in peace.
Suicide, however, has different implications. Family's are often left in shock because they have no knowledge of what and why the reasons are behind this and have to pick up the pieces. This often leads to those closest blaming themselves for not seeing the signs, not being there and always wondering how this could have happened.
People view suicide as a cowardly and selfish act, I see it as a cry of desperation, from someone who needs help. They need someone to give them the time of day and reasons to live.
Euthanasia I can agree with, suicide I'm not sure.

I'm torn. My answer to the first would of course be Yes. But the second....
Just as Oregon has restrictions on who and under what circumstances people can commit suicide, I think that we should impose restrictions on the other kind. Otherwise, we are refusing the benefit of modern treatment on the depressed. On the other hand, someone who is behaving as the young man is I'm not sure is worth saving! But I'd have to ignore what I know about the changes that can be made by someone like this getting involved with other people or goals. My instinct would be to forcibly enlist him in the army or some other organization that would keep him busy and get him involved with productive activity. Or if he were clinically depressed, require him to take antidepressants for a month and then see if he still wanted to kill himself. The biological fact is that life wants to continue itself and anyone who wishes to go against this instinct has something either psychologically or structurally wrong with them and should get treatment before deciding to end it all.

I think yes. if the person is so depressed that they want to die then its only civil to let them be happy. some people think its selfish but perhaps they're allowed to be selfish once in a life? x

most that say they want to die only want the attention. acually life for the whole of society would be better after a 1 time mass suicide of extreme elderly, and various stupid people and/or groups

No, it is a crime. That person may not be mentally sound. Better lifestyle can be provided .
