why doesn't anyone ever use the?

One word answers your question ... LAZINESS!

I see all the "excuses" in answers here ... not good at searches (yeah, like it's hard to type in a person's name for a biography) or a "need for human contact" -- well, that's BULL. And if you look at the people who wrote those "excuses" they tend to be the enablers who do the work for the kids.

You know the kids are simply lazy when they want the information .. then say in their "question" not to post websites because they don't want to be bothered looking at them!

This "question" is a prime example!

I will often do a Google search for kids -- but only post a site -- not the research itself. Sometimes, if it's blatantly easy, I'll tell them WHAT to Google.

Good question often wondered myself,but I think the other answers you have here are on the right track .I have been ill most of this year and its been good being able to come down in the middle of the night and go onto yahoo answers and sometimes when I have been worrying about something to see what others think. Have you ever been in a place where you can hear other people discussing a subject you know well and they obviously do not,they get all the facts wrong but all enjoy the interacting so you sit there smiling to yourself ,they would not always appreciate your interrupting them . I think a lot of people are on here for fun and to fill in the time ,better than smoking don't you think .

I understand what you are saying. I think a lot of people are just not very good at doing a search, either because they just don't enter the best words in the search window, or because they then have difficulty choosing good sites from the selections given.

I also think that many people like that little bit of "human contact" that comes from having your question answered by a "real person". Our world has become so impersonal and detached in so many ways, and for some people I suspect this site is just a way of having some contact with other people.

I think its because for one a lot of people don't know they can do that. But its also fun to write in your own words to see what people have to say about your situation. I totally agree with you, it would save a lot of time. But hey, if you're wasting your time on here anyways. may as well ask a question you want answered. : )

um...maybe because sometimes people know stuff that isnt on the internet, and y! answers let's them give a more personal view on the subject

also, people might not have great searching skills to find what they need! lol

i know! i c a lot of the same questions like "how many points do i need to reach this level?" and i wonder the same as you do!!!!its pointless i mean they lose 5 points 4 nothing!

i thought i was the only one who thought that lol

They think it's fun to see what people will say. Either that, or they are too lazy too look themselves.

Some people just have too much time on their hands I guess.
