Road to being a professional violinist?
I'd like to pursue a career as a pro violinist. I'd like to know where to start and how to get my face out there. How to meet people in the business, what requirements would I need to have. I'd like to eventually play for a BIG BIG time orchestra.

1. find an excellent teacher.
2. tell your teacher your goal.
3. do what your teacher says no matter how mundane.
4. practice frequently.
5. perform and audition as much as possible so you become comfortable.
6. play in school, local youth orchestras, audition for all state, audition for honor orchestras, attend summer camps if possible (like interlochen)
7. get into a great music school. apply to as many as possible.
8. practice about six hours a day (outside of lessons and rehearsals) I'm not joking.
9. practice your orchestral excerpts. there are a ton. very daunting.
10. network, network, network. get to know people. talk to them. help them out and they'll help you out.
11. be dependable. show up early. set out chairs, help clean up. learn your part before the first rehearsal if possible. show improvement at every rehearsal. be a stellar student by not talking during rehearsal, etc.
12. be careful what you say about others. many careers have never been started because an influential person heard a nasty comment through the grapevine.
13. be prepared to have a lot of disappointment. you just keep on auditioning and trying to improve. it's a long hard road.
14. never stop taking lessons. even when you're ninety.
15. keep the passion. if that runs out then it just isn't worth it.

get a good, well-known teacher, and start playing in recitals. As your repertoire grows, put on your own recital. Get involved in an out-of-school orchestra. Start your own quartet and play lots of gigs. Work towards getting accepted into Interlochen, either for high school or an intense summer camp. Take in students; sometimes teaching is the best way to learn. Go to different summer camps and programs to get your name out and attend concerts. Try to get master classes with well-known players. Get into all-state orchestra. Finally, go to Juliard or some other big school for music.
.. i know that's a lot..
but, most importantly of all, you should be practicing at least 5 hours a day, but don't be tense. I recommend the books Playing (Less) Hurt and The Inner Game of Music
good luck!

It helps to start at five years of age. But anyway, if you are serious then you should be practising about 3 or 4 hours per day.Do you do this ?
Join any youth orchestra near you if you are already good enough.

Practice makes perfect. Get your own violin and just keep on practicing until there is no difference between you and your favorite violin player.

first you take violin lessons and then ask your teacher if you could play in recitals. That's your start.
