Should I feel sorry for the poor children of the world?

When I see those shows on t.v. about children living in third world countries with no food, no healthcare, and no shelter, should I feel sorry for them. I waited until I owned a house had a car and was able to support myself before I had childen. Why should I send money to people who made a bad desicion and had children when they weren't ready?

What if you lost everything you had because of war? Then you became homeless and had to look after your kids that way?

Would others think you had your kids without planning for them?

Feel empathy. Offer genuine help. And don't look down on them because you never know if someday you might be in a bad way too!

Thank you for caring like I do. This shouldn't even be happening. I sponsor a child from the Philippines and he won over my heart. I don't have much money, but when I saw his picture and read his story that he was sleeping on a mat on the dirt floor, I cried. I was able, with help from an unknown source, to get him a bed. I may be poor in the USA standards but rich compared to this family. It is rewarding to feel like you are making a difference in a child's life. That is how I felt when I taught problem children. It was the most rewarding job I have ever had. I also can say that I loved my job! God will Bless you for caring and helping. Lord knows we need more people like you! I have 3 grown children that have worked on building homes for habitat for humanity and my daughter is a full time college student now and still finds time to work with the Red Cross. I also volunteered at a hospital. I am dismayed at those, except for the young teens, that people feel sorry for them but say they don't have money to help. I am disabled and live on very little money and I can put aside money to help. It all depends what you are willing to do instead of just words. We all can eke out a small amount if we REALLY want to. There is always volunteer work too.

They don't really have a choice of "ready" or not. In many countries, it is expected of you to have kids, no matter what, and birth control isn't exactly widely available. If you need to choose between condoms, and food, which are you going to pick?

I don't think it is fair of you to compare yourself to them. You live in one of the richest countries in the world. If you are from the U.S., You are about 4% of the world population, contributing to 24% of fossil fuel consumption.

You having two kids is like a couple in India having more than 50, in terms of consumption.

It's not about the fact they made a bad decision. Education and everything is really different over there, their whole system. They can't as readily make money as we can.

No you don't HAVE to feel sorry for them, it's just something that most of us do. Most of the time it isn't their fault they're without shelter and food/health care and they had children either for traditional reasons or to earn more income.

you know i was thinking about it, but look again how many poor children homeless, starving kids we have here in USA. how many kids are w/out elementary health insurance.

maybe we should start feel sorry and help our kids, in here before we look at someone else backyard.

    peace be upon you

Everyone have a heart feel sorry for these people.

Yes,may be they took a bad decision , but there is children die from hunger.

These people don't need us to feed them ,they need us to learn them how to feed themselves , need us to learn them how to save themselves.
