Where is the headlight dimmer switch on a 1983 Oldsmobile?

I just bought a (used, of course) 1983 Olds Cutlass Custom Cruiser station wagon, and for the life of me, I can't find the dimmer switch for the headlights. I figured it would be on the floor to the left of the brake, but I can't find it. It might be under the carpet, which isn't overly worn and likely had been replaced at some point.

I own a shop, and it's in the glove box. "Just kidding". The switch is located on the steering column under the dash. The turn signal arm has a rod that is attached to it, and runs down the column to the switch. The switch is about 3/4 the way to the floor on the column. It is operated by pulling the turn signal arm towards you just like many other vehicles are now days. You are right, most vehicles that old had it in the floor on the left side, and it was changed around about the same year as the "83" to the steering column.

Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!

The switch was on the floorboard to the left of the foot pedals. If you were driving an unfamiliar car, the switch could be very hard to locate in the dark - you'd end up stomping around and not be able to dim the headlights. I got a new Volkswagen bug in 1968 and the dimmer was on the steering column! It was heavenly...
