Chalkboard paint on wine bottles?

I have read most state to SPRAY the bottles with chalkboard paint, but is it okay to PAINT them instead?

Update:

Sorry

A friend of mine owns a restaurant

We are taking wine bottles and putting chalkboard paint on them, then writing daily specials on the bottles, events etc

I searched 'how to' to do this and most state to use chalkboard SPRAY PAINT, I was asking if

I could just PAINTchalkboard paint on the bottles , rather than spray re: the mess

Update 2:

Would appreciate anyone that has tried this to give me some feedback:)

I think it is an outstanding idea! Very creative!

I would think that you would need to prime the bottles first, but I'm not sure.

Contact the manufacturer and ask them what process you need to take.I"ve used Rust Oleum brand before and it works well, but I used it on walls and dry erase boards. The spray will actually work better I think because it will not leave brush marks.

as long as you aren't spraying it INSIDE the bottle, it doesn't matter what is on the outside. the drawback is you can't see the wine if you paint the bottle.
