Downtown New York?

Sarah...How much time ya got? *L* ...and do you HAVE to stay exclusively "downtown"?

You can visit Little Italy and eat till ya pop and then? Take walk the calories off down Mullberry Street and get a canolli and a espresso.

Or how about Chinatown and it's delicious Peking Duck?....deeeelicious!

Or take a Circle Line boat to the Statue of Liberty or go on a cruise around Manhattan. Lady Liberty is still NYC's most beautiful lady.

Want to see where the World Trade Center stood and pay your respects and check out where the Freedom Tower is going? The Tribute WTC Visitor Center (120 Liberty Street.

How about walking over to the Lower East Side and see the Brooklyn Bridge? STILL one of the worlds most beautiful bridges.

Want to see the financial district and Wall Street and the Stock Exchange?

When you visit downtown NYC (as opposed to mid town) you could visit the financial district aka Wall Street, Battery Park and take a ferry to Staten Island, there is the South Street Seaport, Chinatown, Little Italy, the Brooklyn Bridge and much much more.

Of course Midtown offers Central Park, Broadway, Fifth Avenue, Empire State Building Greenwich Village, the museum of natural history, the UN building, Rockefellor Center, St Patricks Catherdral, 42nd street and a lot more. Hope this helps!

These are sites only on lower Broadway. Some consider Greenwich Village and Soho downtown but those are different neighborhoods.

At Lincoln Center (64th and Amsterdam), you could go hear the New York Philharmonic, the New York City Opera, the Metropolitian Opera, or a student recital at Juillard.

You can visit museums (MoMA, the Met) many restaurants, playhouses, Central Park, and other types of "sight seeing" places. I personally love Union Square (14th Street on the 6 train) Obvioulsy, one can go shopping (Grand Central 42nd St., etc)

Currently, in Central Park "Free Love" is showing (Shakespeare plays) Other places: if you leave the train station early in manhattan, you can get free newspapers (AM & Metro) with things going on in the city.
