The same thing happened to my son. As soon as summer started, he started getting 5 hours a week.

Here's what he did. He found a job with set hours (three days a week for certain hours each day) and then he told his other job what hours he was available around that.

Before you look for another job, talk with your manager and let him/her know that you need more hours or you're going to need to find another job to augment your hours or replace that job. If he/she says no to more hours, let him/her know that you'd like to continue working there, and you hope they'll be able to work around another schedule.

Find another job before resigning at Target if you decide to replace the job.

In other words, the really hot girl asked for your number and said go home and wait for me to call you. They don't respect you. If the money is important, make sure you have another job lined up. Start putting in applications at other places. I knew someone that worked at Target a while ago and they were in a somewhat similar situation. Just make sure you give enough notice when you are leaving. Two to three weeks should be sufficient for the amount of hours you put in. If it were a full time job, 3 to 4 weeks would be better. It's way too early to be burning bridges in your life.

Yes, I think you should quit your job. To get better jobs you should not ignore the value of a good education.

There are now online courses, which will enable you to get a degree in 2 years while you work. An education is a long-term investment. It will put you in good jobs. It will also give you a lot of self-respect. Money is not everything. There are learning years and earning years. It is generally not a good idea to prioritize work before education. It is like putting the cart before the horse.

    Peace and blessings!

I have never worked at Target, but it sounds as if you were thrown aside. In a part time job, people who stay a long time get privileges, among them more hours. Looks like you are not getting this perk. Of course, it could depend on the particular store you work for, what their needs are, how many other employees are present.

That said, there may be other factors at play. Part time work is not something people stay on. Most of the time they move on to full time jobs. Part time work is good for students, for people who have other obligations and cannot keep a full time job. People in such situation may get more hours. Another possibility is that an employee is seen as management material. Such candidate may get more time, while he is groomed to a management position. There are also losers who cannot keep a full time job, who are basically drifting in the part time job. Such people would not get more time. Management does not want them, and hope they would drift away on their own. They get minimal hours.

You have not said enough of yourself to assess your situation, but I said enough to get you started. Good luck.

First off, talk to your boss that u are available to work more and are willing to take extra hours. If this doesn't change, it would be best to look for another job
