What is causing shriveled fingertips?

For the last two weeks or so my fingertips are remaining wrinkled and shriveled throughout the day, and now they are becoming sensitive. It feels uncofortable to type. I have not been submerging my hands in water or taking long baths or any of the sort. Is this a symptom of something? Should I be paying more attention to this?

The problem is from dry skin (you can search the web for xerosis). Which can be caused by dehydration as mentioned in a previous answer, but it can also be caused by vitamin A deficiency (which is usually a symptom of some other problem) or by diabetes. Try to eliminate dehydration as cause - drink plain water or something like gatorade, and if you can, use a hand lotion containing glycerin overnight by coating your hands and wearing cotton gloves. It the condition doesn't clear up in a day or two by drinking more water than normal, then its probably a good idea to visit the doctor.

    Wrinkled Fingertips

My fingertips started wrinkling about a year ago. I had other vague symptoms but eventually I had some wrinkling in my heels along with numbness in my feet. After seeing several doctors and having a nerve conduction test-I learned that I have a genetic disease called

CMT. It causes neuropathy in lower legs and hands-which causes muscle atrophy. The muscle atrophy is what caused the wrinkling in my finger tips. If you have wrinkling-go to the doctor!

Are you taking in enough water. Keeping yourself hydrated is a big part of staying healthy and keeping your body functioning properly. If you notice any cracking in the skin, bleeding, or discoloration, be sure to take a visit to the doctors.

Good luck and get well soon!! :-)

You may be dehydrated. Drink lots of fluids and see if the fingertips change.
