Calling Three Doors Down Fans...?
What do you understand the lyrics to their song Father's Son. The first two frames are clearly about tragic situations involving actions taken against young ladies, but the third frame is not so obvious and it changes from the first person to a third person. The lyrics claim a possibly insanity or the devil has taken his soul in the first then when the whiskey and gun are thrown its in the third. Then of course the reframe is in first person and with the exception of this last frame no where else is it in the first. What was going on?

The song is a about a man who's committed rape/abuse/murder of a prostitute. The man has been abused himself (apparently by his Father). He's come to the realization that he himself is a father, and he refuses to repeat the cycle.
The chorus really says it all. He's committed a horrible sin and he refuses to become like his father, so he takes his own life.
Disturbing, yet powerful, tune.
That's my take at least...
