Does Mac software run on other Linux OS?

I've been experimenting with some of the free linux OS's, like Ubuntu. Especially Ubuntu with Beryl is very fun, and seems very PC/Mac like.

But what about installing other software?

Can I install "Office for Mac", or any other "for Mac" software (since Mac uses linux now).

    No.

Commercial Macintosh Software will not run on Linux. Macintosh does not use linux, but is unix based.

Much of the software that runs under linux will also run on Mac OS X and other unix based operating systems if recompiled.

Mac OS X is not like other Unix based operating sytems, and has APIs (Application Programming Interface) not found on other Unix systems.

There is vmWare. I know it runs Win98 on a memory stick. Also, the new RedHat promises virtual space for various OS to harness 90% of the CPU. Whatever flavor of Linux you run, I find asking the ubuntu forum the quickest way to install these oddball configurations. I would think you would need MaxOS configured first.
