Canada's Name?
When the land “up North” was looking for a name, they just couldn’t get all of the politicians to agree. Unlike their aggressive neighbours to the South, they wanted to find something on which all their citizens, from many diverse cultures, would agree. They wanted a short name that would be easily remembered (like “USA”).
So after seventy votes, it became clear that three groups emerged. Finally they agreed that each would submit a letter, and then they would figure out what the letters stood for.
The first politician stood up and said “C” The minister repeated, “C”, eh? The second contributed “N”. The minister said “N”, eh? The third shouted out “D” and the minister confirmed “D”, eh?
The clerk then repeated what he had written down: “C-A-N-A-D-A"...

Pretty good!
O Canada! Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide, O Canada,
We stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada! Land of our forefathers
Your brow is wreathed with glorious garlands!
Though your arm knows how to bear the sword,
It knows how to bear the cross!
Your history is an epic
Of the most brilliant feats.
And your valour, in faith steeped,
Will protect our homes and our rights;
Will protect our homes and our rights
