Weird feeling while getting general anesthesia?
this was my first surgery so im not sure what this reaction was about. as i was breathing in the anesthesia gases thru the mask, i was feeling a burning sensation in my crotch. it was like a cigarette; the harder i inhaled, the more it burned. i just remember feeling like my genitals were on fire...it was a horrible feeling. has anyone ever felt this while going under general anesthesia? ill be asking my doctor about it on thursday, but im curious to know if it has anything to do with anything! or i was just being euphoric.

If I had to hazard a guess, I suspect your anesthesiologist was giving you a medication through the IV called dexamethasone. It is a steroid medication (similar to prednisone) that is commonly used to prevent nausea and vomiting after general anesthesia.
No one really understands why, but giving dexamethasone quickly can result in a burning sensation in the groin. I'll admit that it's pretty strange, but it's a well-known reaction. I only give the medication to people once they're asleep for that reason.
I would recommend asking your doctor what medications were given when they were putting you to sleep.

Usually what you are breathing through the mask is a combination of oxygen, nitrogen, and other induction agents like Isoflurane, Sevoflurane, etc. Then you are given an induction agent like Propofol through an Intravenous cannula (it looks like milk). Some side effects of a General Anaesthetic (GA) include head ache (the most common side effect), sore throat (from the laryngeal mask airway or Endotracheal tube), and you can sometimes feel nauseous afterwards. With regards to the burning sensation you felt in your private area, can you please describe the exact location? Was it all over or more generalised?
Also some GAs can give a feeling or peri-anal stimulation, which is a troubling feeling that someone is playing with the perineum, that area between your anus and your genitals. This is very rare, though. But you must warn the patient before hand as they will know what is happening and won't think you are fondling them as they fall off to sleep!!
Also, what kind of surgery was it? And did you ever have this burning feeling before? What about after the surgery? Did you have a catheter in place?

I haven't experienced this personally but have experienced either a general pleasant tingling or less pleasant coldness.

Never had that happen before.
