child abuse?????
why in the state of Tennessee is it not considered child abuse or neglect when a mother lets her children go with lice for almost four years now? I just can't see how this is not considered child neglect in the eyes of the court system. Just curious of everyone thoughts on this?
i also ment to mention earlier that d.c.s. (department of children services) has been involved for going on two years now but they keep letting it slide too.
i would give an estimate of it being reported around 75 to 80 times, and to clarify i have been to court and gained custody of my child from the mother however there are 3 other children suffering from this and the only reason i won the case is because she didnt fight me in court, the father of the other two is now trying to get custody and shes fighting him and he's getting no where
our schools do head check only 4 times per year they have been sent home every time, and sometimes upon returning to school, the mother will then treat only there hair and not the whole house, therefor when they go back to school they don't have it but around a week later or so its back again

Contact the Tennessee State Health Department!!! Kids might be embarrassed but surely no more than the past years!
Poor kids!! You mean they have had to itch and scratch for 4 years????? Put up with teasing and finger pointing?????? I have heard of Advocates for Children there is a site for Tennessee, maybe they can do something.
Here are several websites.

Has it been brought to the attention of Child Protective Services?
When you talk about "the eyes of the court system", you say it like it is a separate entity that is out there lurking, watching and acting on its own findings. The system is only as good as the people working in it and those reporting alleged abuse.

I suspect that there may be more to this. Has it been 4 consistent years? Here in my state- you can't go to school with lice - so if that is the case in TN as well -you are saying that these kids have been out of school for 4 years? Or is it that they have had x amount of cases in 4 years and that number is so high it almost seems like they've had lice for 4 years now?

My Gawd...FOUR YEARS!?! This is sickening abuse..
How do you know it went on for this outrageous length of time? I can tell you...the eyes of the court system are BLIND...they fail to see a lot.
I'm just outraged...this poor child needs to be removed from the home...he's probably neglected in many other ways. The court system continues to turn the other cheek

Four years? that's definately abuse/neglect. you should report that... also, the kids can probably get help at school with managing their lice.

there are bad parents all over not just in Tennessee....you need to keep calling child protective services....and one day you will reach a person that can do something about the parents

It is neglect when a parent does not look after the hygienic and medical needs of her children.

Neglect all the way. If that mother cared she would have taken care of this when it first started. Mothers like that really p*ss me off.

So you disapprove of the kids pets?
You insectaphobe.
Some people believe that lice are healthy for children and only remove them after a certain age, they probably still use leeches too.

I think that is a civil rights issue as far as health care goes and maybe someone should look at it from that aspect

Why haven't you reported the person repeatedly until you got action?
