yes they can, but i would get a pro to do it, because of the equiptment envolved...they would have to have a floor sander...to take off the paint and keep the floor smooth too...gonna be a big job

THERE ARE SOME GOOD PAINT STRIPPING SOLVENT WHICH CAN BE USED IN THE FIRST REMOVAL APPLICATION PRIOR TO SANDING. RENT A DRUM SANDER WITH 80 GRIT PAPER TO START WHICH WILL TAKE THE MAJORITY OF ROUGH STUFF OFF. THEN GO TO HIGHER GRIT PAPER FOR SMOOTHING. THIS IS NOT AN EASY JOB ESPECIALLY IF U HAVE NOT USED A SANDER BEFORE. U MAY HAVE TO CONTACT SOMEONE WITH EXPERIENCE

Yes with a lot of hard work. Most of the time you can sand the paint out and just refinish them. I would look into a professional doing this for you if you can't do it.

they can be but i would hire a professional to do them. they'll need to be sanded and can then be stained or just sealed. but my husband is a fireman and many firemen do house projects as a side job but all of them hire out professional floor finishers for floors because it is easy to ruin wood floors if you're not experienced at it.
