depends entirely on the size of your home, insulation factor and what type of heating you have.
we have an average home (3 bedroom side split), gas heat and not quite enough insulation. we pay about 1200 or so a year.

Homes are decent sizes and most apartments in larger centers offer you the choice of heat or hydro, but it is all dependent on the conitions of the buildings and if the houses have been properly insulated and if they meet code.
Gas and Electric are not bad and some still heat with oil, and most apartment have baseboard heating or some still in Toronto have radiators, but that would be in older classical built homes.
