I don't think any animal should be clubbed to death! What people dont realize anymore is that humans are animals too...so should we have human hunters? Humans are the most over populated animal on earth, and a lot of them think they are God and can control who lives and who doesnt. There is no reason as to why an animal should be killed, except for food.

Some people just need to get over themselves and realize that all animals have the same right to the land as us. It's sick that hunting for fun is considered a "sport". When I think of sport I think of basketball, football, baseball, soccer...not of being able to use a weapon.

If hunting was illegal, then psychos wouldnt learn to shoot and kill! I think PETA and ASPCA should get involved, politicians dont want to mess with animal activists because we are very passionate about what we love, and thats our living and breathing creatures that cannot defend themselves against humans!

I have no issues, as long as the harvest is monitored and the populations kept up like any good industry.

People who watched too many cartoons about talking animals when they were kids and have reality issues as a result seem to think that animals are people. It's called Anthropomorphism and I think it should be labeled a mental disorder.

Animals don't have 'rights'. That doesn't mean we don't need to be good stewards of the land, sea and air. Man has dominion over all lands and creatures for his use. I'm not saying this because of any religious beliefs either. It's knowledge of science and of nature that says we do, not some ancient texts.

No matter how 'cute' they may or may not be, seals are dumb animals that have been harvested by humans for tens of thousands of years. It's the Natural Order of things and we shouldn't mess with it now should we?

If you are really a caring and concerned person like I hope you are, why not spend a little effort making a humans life a little better? Raise money for orphans, feed the homeless and the mentally ill on the streets, see that an elderly neighbor is eating right and has some company once in while, volunteer at Habitat for Humanity, etc. Unless old, sick and poor people aren't 'cute' enough for you......

Nothing, it may be bloody and unpleasant to watch but so is killing a cow or a chicken and nobody worries about them. The seal hunt has gone on for over a hundred years. People who are so concerned about the animals should turn to their own SPCA's and do some work there.

I am not from Canada so my opinion really does not matter. This is a subject for the Canadian people.

But if it were my country I would prefer the livelihood of the hunters over the seals, if the population of the seals is plentiful.

Nothing, it is Canadian law. We have been trying to slow it down or stop it since 1970 - I was in high school & staged a march at school. We wrote everyone in politics that we could think of.

Hopefully the new generations of politicians can do something or at least care. It is an awful sight.

you can mind your own business. the are scientific, cultural, and logical reasons as to why this is allowed. there are far worse atrocities to worry about - leave this one to the seals, the hunters, and the democratically elected officials here in canada to work out. there are reasons for this occurance, and there is plenty of research and controversy surrounding this that you can read about - it is not as evil as some media has made it sound.

i actually saw a documentary on t.v on how they killed them and i was crying i dont know y they do that even if they are not endangered they sholdent be a llowed to kill them. they way they killed them was that they will get like a stick with a hook in the end and beat them in their heads until they where dead. sometimes they didint care they will just hit them with the hook untop of their heads and even dough the hook was in their heads then will be crying and the people killing them will still keep draging them and spladder the blood every where. i dont know how they have the heart to do that to them..

I fail to see what the big deal is, it is not like they are endangered anymore. Just because they are cuddly looking. I'd rather have them as a pair of boots.

    Missy, you dolt

It's PETA and if you can't get that right, why would anyone give you the time of day for anything else. I am interested about their rights tho, when did they vote for that one.

    Encourage it.

It's good for the seals to keep them from over popuating.

Otherwise they would die from disease and starvation.

    Keep it up.
