Petey was an American Pit Bull Terrier. The original group of Petes were gone after the 1932 episode "The Pooch". There was a dog breeder who worked at Roach studios since the mid 20's and supplied the dogs to the films made including The Little Rascals. When he left he also stopped supplying the dogs so in 1932 when Hook & Ladder was made Pete looked much different (far less white and far more colors and a fake hallow eye circle. I believe the original Petes had this natural trademark.

If I don't forget right, GSDs had an awfully bad reputation for a whilst. I love these puppies and the sight of considered one of them doing Schutzhund or something can also be scary. That stated, I don't have any notion why people promote GSDs as less aggressive - it's too generalized. It will depend on the dogs you encounter. I have never met an aggressive GSD or pit bull - however i have never spent a variety of time with both breed. I have been bitten by means of a Boston Terrier that used to be seeking to play and it hurt like you would not think. If either breed had been terribly aggressive, they would not be used as service dogs, IMO. I looked up some things on search & rescue puppies, which I observed intriguing. The primary web page talks a couple of pit bull, the 2nd concerning the merits of GSDs, and the 0.33 states, "'The breed [of the search & rescue dog] is not relevant ... The perspective is.'"

Pete the Pup, from Hal Roach's Our Gang comedy short films of the 1920s and 30s, later known as The Little Rascals. An APBT was again used for the 1994 Little Rascals film remake as well.

    APBT: AMERICAN PIT BULL TERRIER.

The APBT is the midsized breed of the three generally referred to as pit bulls :American Staffordshire Terrier (AST) and Staffordshire Bull Terrier (SBT)).

Petey was an American Pitbull Terrier. See, not all pitbulls are bad! I really don't think they'd use a vicious dog in a movie that centers around young children.

And ferritfreak? There have been questions WAY more random than this one posted on this site before!!

Petey was an American Pitbull Terrier...cool huh? :D

And just for some interesting info on Pitbulls...the Staffordshire Terrier is the 'show' version of the American Pitbull terrier and is known in England as the "Nanny dog" for it's love of children. :)
