What is your landlord entitled to know about you?

I am renting a new condo in Toronto. I am going through the process of application right now and with all the information we are asked to provide, I am skeptical as to know, by law, what is a landlord suppose to know about a tenant (beyond your income, and references check)? Inversely, what is the tenant entitled to know about their landlord?

Thanks all!

Update:

This is what I found:

Tenant Protection Act, 1997

Update 2:

    Not all that much really.

    Rental history

    Income

    Reference Checks

Criminal History ( in some states)

    thats about it

  • This is a question you should have asked before you rented. I am in the states and I am sure that the laws are different especially since the are different in every state. What are you concerned about giving out? You should know everything you can about your landlord before moving into a new place it can save you a lot of trouble later. I would expect some universal questions they can ask you would be last residences for however many years they think is necessary, Employment inforamtion, income, informaton necessary to obtain a credit report if Canada has those, references, anything that would give the landlord an idea of the type of person you are I know this should be covered by references, but most people put references that will say good things about them even if a lie beyond that I would check laws in Canada for the information they are allowed to obtain.
