How do you get rid of an adware program?

Question

I got an adware program calling itself Surf Sidekick. The individual programs the make up the program are called "Ssk", "Sskcore.dll", "Sskbho.dll". 
Norton can't get rid of it, Macafee can't get rid of it. If you try to erase it a message comes up reading that it is currently in use by another person, even when I disable my laptops external card. 
Its bugging the hell outta me. Everytime I try I use it ads are interuppting what I want to do.
Right now Im on my parent's computer, if I was on my laptop I would not be able to finish out this entire question. 
Does anyone have any suggestions? Please only serious suggestions. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!

SSK stands for surf side kick-very, very bad.  I spent a couple of days cleaning it up on a pc.  You can run all the adware and spybot like programs you want and it will just reappear!  First turn off your system restore (right click my computer, pick properties, system restore tab, and check the box to turn off system restore).  Then go to Mcafee or Norton or PCCillian and download the guide from their encyclopedia.  Some of the cleaning is in the registry and some will have to be done in safe mode.  

The easier solution....save off all data to a CD/DVD, etc and reload your software!  Good Luck!

i had a similar problem .. everytime a window would open up ..nothing helped me .. finally i used the SYSTEM RESTORE option ... and i restored to an earlier time when the problems were not there.. since then the problems have gone .. other wise try ADaware or Spybot - search and destroy..

for my area, i imagine no longer some thing works extra sensible than Spybot S&D. in spite of the undeniable fact that, it extremely works ultimate even as used on the area of Adaware own version. Google it up and also you may get it. finally, continually save the definition archives as a lot as date. solid success :-)

Install and run Ad-aware and Spybot
Install and run each tab of CCleaner and you should be good to go, CCleaner will also speed up your pc and fix dll files and other problems.

install lavasoft's adaware program. www.lavasoft.com
install spybot's search and destroy www.spybot.com
these two are recommended by microsoft.
install them and run them once..and clean all spywares and other cookies..

you might also search for spyblaster and install it.. its good too. i am using it for a while and i never get any issues with hijacking, spywares, unwanted popups etc..
