Hyperactivity in Standard Poodle?
I have a standard poodle she is almost a year old. She is so hyperactive and destructive. I have trained alot of dogs and have had standard poodles before I know they are high enegry dogs and require alot of excercise which she gets I am fortunate that I can be around to take her out at least 3 times a day to run and play. She has a fenced in area where she can go outside to play also in between she has been obdience trained but has a very short attention span. She is crate trained also. She needs constant supervision and if I cant I have to put her up in her crate. Even if she has just came in from me taking her out to play She has periods where she will run uncontrollable through the house over furniture she will grab plants and tear the up or what ever is in her way. When she gets like this i have to put her up in her crate. She dosent like being alone even if I go to the trash I have to put her in her crate or the basement or she will tear something up. I dont know what to do with her I haven't ran into this problem before, this isnt from lack of excercise or disipline as she gets both. I take time to sit with her before we come in to let her calm down, but as much as I love her my house and my nerves cant take much more. I have contacted a couple of vets which tell me its normal to live with it. but I dont think it is normal for a dog to be this hyperactive, even when she is crated at night she dosent sleep but very little she will remain quiet in the crate and during the day she sleeps not at all she is always on the move I need some serious advice, she has a sweet personality but she is a one dog demolition crew unless you are right with her. I think she does have seperation anxiety. I am looking for a vet who can help us make it though this.
4 AnswersDogs1 decade agoHELP my dog is out of control!?
I have a 6 month old standard poodle. I bought her at 8 weeks. I have crate trained her from the beginning, never let her run around the house unsupervised. I live in the country and take her out 3 times a day to let her run for at least 30 minutes or more at a time. She is still at 6 months not housebroken she will go outside to potty and after she has pooped she will come inside at look right at me and do it again. She was doing fairly well and going to the door when she wanted to go out but it seems as if she has decided not to do that anymore she just squats and goes. I do not let her alone in the house if I cant watch her I put her up. I tell her no and use word OUTSIDE when she does potty in the house and take her out. I praise her when she does go potty outside. She stays in her crate when I cant look over her constantly. I love her very much but she is wearing my patience down, I have trained many dogs but this is a first for me. I haven't changed anything, there has been no changes in my dogs life or routine. I just dont know what to do at this point. I have taken her to the vet nothing is wrong with her physically. I teather her to me with her leash now when she is loose but without notice or sniffing she will squat. Any suggestions I am lost with what to do now.
1 AnswerDogs1 decade agoAs a Woman What are my rights in a divorce?
I have been married for 24 years. Unfortunately this is coming to a end. I have one teenage child, who probably wont come see my spouse so I know child support is out. I have stayed at home and been a wife and mother. I enjoyed raising my child and would not trade that for anything, but it dosen't do well on a resume, I am not in the best of health. I cant afford to keep the house, but my father has alzheimers and needs help so I will be moving in with him to care for him. What kind of support can I expect? What are my rights as far as 401K and company pensions, and alimony are concerned?

3 AnswersDogs1 decade agowireless pet fences do they work?
I am wondering about a wireless fence I have a big area of my yard fenced in but i have 2 german shepherds and a pit bull in there I also have a 4 month old puppy. and I dont let her run in that area of the yard they play very rough. This puppy is a standard poodle. I have a nice size place behind my house where my patio is I was considering putting up a wireless fence back there since we use it for entertaining but it would allow her to be out there with us I keep her with me just about everywhere I go. Does anyone know anythiing about this product and does it work? She is a wonderful puppy but I live in the country and close to the highway. She smells all kinds of smells and wants to track them which leads her to trouble most of the time. Thank You.
3 AnswersOther - Pets1 decade agoNeed Help with Crate Training!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
I have a 10 week old puppy that I have had for 2 weeks. I have used a crate with her from the beginning. She is better in the daytime in her crate when she can see someone. The problem is at night she cry's and barks all night, and if we have her in one of our rooms she whines to get into the bed which is NOT a option she will be a large dog. I dont want her sleeping in the bed. My spouse is no help he refuses to listen to her bark at night so I have to find a place to put her in the house where you cant hear her which isnt easy. I take her out to potty when she has been in her crate a while, and I try to never take her out of her crate unless I think it is time for her to potty unless she has quit barking, but if it is constant for hours which is sometimes is at night i have to go get her and take her to potty. I dont know what to do she as i said is very strong willed. She has plenty of time outside the crate I only put her in it in the daytime when I cant watch her, my main problem is at night. My daughter and I take turns watching her but we are both exhausted, no matter how long you leave her in the crate she just keeps hollering, she dosent seem scared or anything like that she just dosent want to be in it, and she is no where near potty trained and she has to stay in it at night and the daytime when no one can watch her. She gets plenty of excercise in the daytime and isnt a big sleeper during the day. Can someone help me find a solution to helping my puppy sleep peacefully at night.
11 AnswersDogs1 decade agoHelp House breaking my puppy.?
I need some advice on house training a puppy. She is a 10 week old standard poodle. I have had her for 2 weeks. I am crate training her, and when I cant watch her she is put in her crate. When she is out of the crate she is on a leash by my side. She never has free reign of the house. I use a solution I bought at the pet store to clean up any accidents to get rid of the smell. I have housebroken other dogs with little trouble through the years and I understand no two are alike. My problem is when she goes outside she does pee and I make sure to give her plenty of time to make sure she is finished, and I take her often but as soon as she gets in the house her nose goes to the ground and she will squat and pee again. She always is sniffing everything which leads to the squating and peeing. She is the only dog in the house, and I have no carpet just linoleum and hard wood floors. I am at a loss of what to do with her to correct this. Can anyone give me any suggestions that can help?
7 AnswersDogs1 decade agoMy puppy dosen't want to come back to me when called?
I have a 8 week old standard poodle, She is just adorable and a good natured puppy. She gets lots of excercise. When I take her out to potty I dont use a leash I live in the country with no one close by, I have never had a problem with this before my other dogs always come when called even my toy poodle. She is little I know she is just a baby, and she wants to play when she is outside I always call her name and say go potty, she does know what is means she would just rather explore. I am working with her several times daily to teach her the basic commands. Any suggestions without having to put her on a leash?
8 AnswersDogs1 decade agoHelp with Large Standard Poodle?
I was given a large standard poodle she was 13 months old. I was careful to check her out and her vet records. The dog is healthy. I asked if there were any behavioral problems or any other problems with her, they said no nothing but she needed to be put in a crate when you were going to be leaving her alone. BUT when we went to look at her their yard was fenced in and the other times she was inside the house. We took her to our vehicle on a leash since she wasnt familiar to us. Inside she is a perfect dog. but taking her outside is another story. At the first sign of the door cracking open she runs past if you forget she is there and out she goes and she wont come back until she is ready this is totally intolarable for me. I have had alot of dogs through the years and they have all been well trained. I dont know what to do with her. She cant be taken out to potty without a leash I have never had a dog like this. She cant be off the leash at all she just bolts and runs like a deer. I have a 25 foot cable I put her on but it dosent help she wont go to the bathroom on it, she is to busy focusing on the cats to do anything else. She is such a beautiful dog but this problem with the bolting out the door and having to be on a leash is something I cant deal with. I have health problems that wont allow me to go out in the winter when it is cold to walk her, I have a small toy poodle that I just open the door and watch her and she pottys and comes right back in. Sending her back to her former family is not a option they dont want her back. Any one have any suggestions?

I have a 5 1/2 month old White Male German Shepherd. He was 8 weeks old when I got him and his ears have always stood up from the beginning. Now all of a sudden his left ear started drooping. I had him neutered a week ago, he has had his shots and he has been wormed. Do you think his ear will stand back up? I love him regardless ears up or down he is my baby but I am curious if his ear will stand back up or not.
7 AnswersDogs1 decade agoHELP!!! my puppies are dying of HOOKWORMS
I bought 2 white german shepherd puppies the first part of June. Upon arriving at the breeder i was horrified at the living conditions of dogs there. I knew the puppies needed medical attention and being a big anmial lover with a extremely soft heart I had to take at least 2 of them out of their terrible living conditions. I have no regrets about taking these dogs they are my babies and I love them very much. They have hookworms and i have almost lost them both twice now. I have a extremely large fenced in yard which i clean up the feces several times daily. They started on strongid which didnt help and were switched to panacur once a day for three days every 10 days and checking the stool every 2 weeks. They got a clean bill of health a week ago but starting yesterday the stools started getting black and loose again. I have checked with other vets which recommend the same as the original vet. I dont want to loose them I am worried they will never get better. Does anyone have any suggestions.

8 AnswersDogs1 decade agoCarotid Artery Sugery on elderly man?
My father is elderly he is 76 and has had 3 bypass sugery's. He had a very hard time with his 3rd bypass and almost didn't make it. He doesnt do well under ansethesia it affects his mind. I am worried about him having this procedure, I talked with his doctor and the vascular sugeron but I am still not convinced, they just dismiss the hard time he had with his last sugery, but he went through a big ordeal was totally out of it for 2 weeks with 24hr sitters and in rehab 8 weeks not only for the sugery but for complications due to lack of oxygen during sugery. He was left with short term memory loss and some problems with his congnitive thinking. I want what is best for him but I am not sure this is it. I am afraid it will only make things worse when he goes back under for sugery. Does anyone have any suggestions.

I feel like a hypocondriac, maybe I am. seems like one thing after another. admitedly i have problems with anxiety. I take toprol xl for HBP and a irregular heart beat, and lorezapam for the irregular heartbeat and anxiety. Also i have been having trouble with low blood sugar. but then i am left nervous worrying about it happening again or something being wrong, i have one child and my mother passed away 9 years ago and since then i worry about something happening to me before she can take care of herself. I am 47 years old and on BCP's for medical reasons. I am afraid to get out of the house, Am I crazy or do you think something is wrong with me
4 AnswersMental Health1 decade agoI Need Help with my Poodle?
My toy poodle is driving my whole family crazy. We have had her three years but for the last few months she has developed a bad habit she licks her feet, legs and body, constantly to the point what ever she is laying on is wet, she constantly scratches and picks at herself, and the sound is so annoying. I have had her to the vet numerous times there is nothing wrong with her, no fleas, or anything wrong with her skin. She is on medication for fleas and heartworms. But she drives everyone nuts. I am to the point of getting rid of the dog if i dont find a solution it is becoming intolerable. someone suggested putting listerine on her legs and feet she wouldnt like the taste, didnt help any suggestions.
