  • Help with minimal hearing loss?

I'm 16 years old. I have a hearing threshold that's mostly at 20 dB, but dips at the lower frequencies to around 25-30 ish (I can't quite remember). As my hearing is 'normal' my doctor won't give me a hearing aid, which I completely understand, but I feel I need one, or some sort of help with hearing. I also have had tinnitus since December

When I was 11 I had great hearing that was near perfect on a routine in school test I did, but as you can tell now it's worse. For example, I used to be able to hear my phone vibrate if it was upstairs and I was downstairs, now I struggle if it's 5 metres away. I have to have subtitles on the TV, otherwise I miss words and zone out, and I struggle hearing my friends when we hang out in louder places.

I'm tired of having to make an effort to listen to people, or completely missing what my teachers say if they turn to face the board. Is there anything I can do? I've heard of Songbird devices and I was wondering if they'd be any good?

  • Help! New rat loose under furniture!!?

Three days ago I got two new rats. One wriggled free while I was holding him and ran under my closet, which is next to the cage. I can't coax him and out and have been trying for half an hour. If I leave the cage open will he go back? I am unsure because they are new, my old ones did but they got loose after we had them for a year.

  • Does this sound serious?

I posted this in the Other - Diseases section, but didn't get many responses, so I'm posting this here in the hopes that someone will reply quicker aha!

I'm a 16 year old girl. I've been feeling ill for around a month now, I'm tired pretty much all the time, and often fall asleep as soon as I get home. I had swollen glands for 2 weeks but now they've gone down (but feel like they're coming up again), and have been running a low grade temperature pretty much constantly (up to 37.8 C which I know isn't a fever, but I normally am about 36.5 - I did an experiment when I was 13). I'm out of breath even after walking up the stairs. I've been having growing pains in one leg that wake me up in the night, but still persist for hours into the day. Last week I had a headache that lasted 5 days.

My mum thinks I have anemia, due to the tiredness, the fact I look washed out, and under my eye lids I am "too pale", but I was wondering what you all think? I don't bruise easily, but I never normally bruise at all so... Oh, but I do keep getting these tiny bruises, that are too small to have been caused by anything, around the size of a goose bump. They start of purple-y (bruise colour) and then fade to pink then away completely. I also have quite a few pin-prick red dots in places, but not enough to constitue a rash. Also, I had a REALLY heavy period (compared to what I normally have) so I guess that fits the anemia.

I also had blood in my stools a few days ago, and my gums seem to be bleeding more than usual when I brush my teeth (they normally don't bleed, but have done twice in the last week).
