DVD recorders that allow editing?
I just had a DVD recorder that finally gave up and quit. So I need to find another one that allows you to edit parts out of what you have recorded. Does anyone know what DVD recorders allow editing?
1 AnswerOther - Electronics1 decade agoUpgrading to a 24 inch monitor, is it worth it?
I currently have a Samsung 19 inch monitor and I'm thinking about upgrading to a 24 inch monitor. I don't do gaming online so that's not a concern. I mainly am wondering if I will have the same picture quality as I have now with the 19 inch monitor.
I also watch streaming video online that runs at about 1.3mb on full screen mode. Will there be a big difference in the picture quality or will the quality still be good but just on a larger screen?
What are the pros and cons of a larger monitor and what features do I need to look for?
3 AnswersMonitors1 decade agoBest across the counter medicine for acid reflux?
I've been having trouble sleeping lately due to being awoken by acid reflux. I was wondering what is a good medicine to take for it that I can pick up at any drug store?
5 AnswersOther - Diseases1 decade agoPulling dents out of carpet?
I've got a small chair that I set in front of the TV when playing video games. It's got small thin rails on each side and when I'm through, it leaves these huge dents right in the middle of the living room carpet. I try to rub them out with my foot and they will nearly disappear but you can still see them in the carpeting. Any good way to get rid of them? Maybe sit the chair on something else to spread the load out?
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoS video cable with HDMI?
I recently bought a 40 inch SONY Bravia HDTV. I had component cables already and the HD picture looked pretty good but not as good as it was in the store. I then bought a $35 HDMI cable and hooked it up and there wasn't really any better picture than with the component cable. When watching a HD football game, the grass tends to wash out and look fuzzy.
I'm wondering if I hook up the S video cable if it will make any difference?
I'm also going to buy a PS3 in the next couple of weeks and want the best picture possible.
3 AnswersTVs1 decade agoThere is an unwanted icon on my taskbar, suggestions?
Apparently I've ran across something that says it's a spyware removal program. It's put an icon in my taskbar that flashes and occasionally puts up a balloon that says "system has detected spyware running in the system, click here to run the program, etc." The name of it is VirusProtectPro. I've went into Add/Remove programs and taken all of that off but this icon is still there. I can always hide the icon but it will still freeze the screen when that balloon tries to come up. I've ran msconfig and I think it is in a RUNDLL32 box. I tried to uncheck it but it says I might have to log in as administrator to make those changes. I don't have a clue what the administrator login is. Any ideas?
7 AnswersOther - Computers1 decade agoHow many coats of paint can a wall stand?
I've got a kitchen wall that was painted back in December. The first painter had to paint it twice and still got it too dark. The second painter painted it in January and got the color right but from the side it still looks wet and splotchy. So I know thats 4 coats counting the first time it was ever painted when built. How many more can go on it without it really looking bad? It's a light shade of yellow.
I've been trying to sell this house for 8 months now and I'm looking for any little thing that someone might knock the house for. I know paint is something that a new owner probably wants to change anyway but I'm afraid someone might look at that wall and think somethings wrong.
4 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoHow to repair closet doors?
I have a set of closet doors that I don't know how to fix. They are double doors where the left one swings out to the left and the right swings out to the right. It's a walk in closet. At the top they have a round hole where a gumball sized ball bearing sits down in that hole on top of a spring. When the doors close, that ball bearing is supposed to go down a little and ft into a grooved plate on the top of the door facing. This is what latches them shut. It's sort of like a friction latch.
A few years ago, I opened one of the doors and the ball bearing shot out and the spring shot out and stretched out. Only a couple of months later the other door did the same thing. So now these doors will not fasten shut.
I took the ball bearings and springs to Lowe's to see if they had a kit to fix them and they didn't. How can I fix these doors so they will stay shut?
4 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoCeiling fans for low ceilings?
My upstairs ceilings for about 7 1/2 feet tall. There are three bedrooms upstairs. I have one a/c unit that runs downstairs and one that runs upstairs. It's been extremely hot in Alabama with temperatures over 100 for most of the month. I keep the upstairs thermostat set at 72 degrees. The temperature in each of the rooms runs at about 75 degrees when it gets very hot. The thermostat in the hallway says it's about 78-80 degrees.
I've had this house up for sale for nearly 8 months now. I'm wondering if the warmer upstairs temperature is turning off some potential customers. Especially those that have lived in one story houses.
Is it worth trying to install ceiling fans upstairs to try and cool those rooms? Are there low hugging fans with built in lights? Will the fans potentially turn off a prospective client?
8 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoCat won't take medicine, any ideas?
My 16 year old cat has lost a lot of weight in the last few weeks. She went from 11 lbs. to 6 lbs. Vet said her kidneys were acting up and she was dehydrated. She changed her food from the hard food she's always had to a soft food high in fat to get her weight up. She's not eating that either.
The vet gave me some pills to crunch up into her food for the next week but she won't go near any food hard or soft that has the medicine in it. Anybody got any ideas on how to get that medicine in her?
10 AnswersCats1 decade agoIs upstairs a/c unit running too much?
I have a two story house with separate a/c units for upstairs and downstairs. During the summer the upstairs unit will run for about 12 hours straight without shutting off. The thermostat is set at 72 but the best it can do is to hold at about 77 degrees or so. Is this putting a strain on the unit maybe causing damage? Is there anything I can do to try and hold the cool air in upstairs?
