2 AnswersSingles & Dating4 years agois horse jumping fun?

10 AnswersHorses8 years agoWhy did my horse bite me?
My horse is an aggressive, dominant horse. (gelded at , now 11). hes on stall rest due to a quarter crack. He hasnt attempted to bite anyone for months now. When I call out his name he starts nickering, and when hes in pasture hell canter up to me. Today I let him sniff my face for a while, and he bit me, not nipped but bit me on the chin, and immediatley ran away without even giving me time to react. I have a giant blue bruise on my chin.
10 AnswersHorses8 years agohelp from all you who jump? please, beginner jumper.?
Im a 16 year old girl. i have been riding 8 years, however i started off wtih very bad trainers who screwed me up. in the last two years, i have been corrected and my biggest experience area is green horses.
My horse is currently in training with a woman (severe bucking problem) and with his training i get a free lesson a week.
I never jumped before, but had three jumping lessons. it was super uncomfertable, after every jump i lost my stirrup, and the second to last time i jumped, i fell forward and i was literally hugging the horses neck until i scooched back onto the saddle.
I have always wanted to be an amazing jumper, and when other people learn they make it look easy. it is not really a flying feeling, just like im flying everywhere. can you guys help me stay motivated?
5 AnswersHorses8 years agoIs she too old to be bred?
So my instructor has this beautiful 17'2 warmblood mare who she used as an eq horse and a 4foot jumper. She is not rideable anymore due to an injury, so my instructor is looking for a new home for her.
She is absolutely beautiful, and has an amazing personality. She is in good shape but she is 26. Thoughts on breeding her?
12 AnswersHorses8 years agowhy does my horse do this?
So my horse really does love me. When i go get him from pasture, he comes running, and im the only person who can touch his ears and face (he has probably been twitched, and was gelded at 6 or 7 so he has had some rough handling)
He is a very dominant horse. He used to have a biting problem
When i put him back in pasture, ill spend time just hugging him without his halter on until he walks off (usually 2-6 minutes)
sometimes he will lower his ears and try and bite me. but it isnt really biting, since he opens his mouth super wide and goes really slow. he will usually do that if he starts smelling my leg and hell start doing that. i am so confused, and he has shown me signs of affection that he does with other horses (hell put his face to mine and nibble on it, which i see he does to other horses so i let him, its very affectionate)

2 AnswersHorses8 years agoVery hard to lead horse. Please help?
So I take care of this horse, who is kept in a tiny stall because he can't have a paddock because he eats dirt. I love him to death (his owner hasn't come in months so I feel like his owner, I buy his shavings and supplements) however I feel like he needs another horse to play with. I couldn't turn him out with my horse because he is pretty aggressive towards horses and is much taller, but the woman owns another horse who is kept in a stall but has a paddock. I tried taking him out (with her permission) and he was trotting around me, bucking. Normally I would try back him up but that made him run forward, and he only way to reach the turn out is thru a busy street so I out him away.
Any ideas?
2 AnswersHorses8 years agoTeaching my quarter horse to...?
I want to teach my paint quarter horse (15'1) to drive. I like the look of it. He's really stocky and powerful. I'm not saying really intense driving, just pleasure driving. How do I go about this?
3 AnswersHorses8 years agoDoes this bug anyone else?
When a beginner posts a question about how they r gonna buy a horse but it's completely obvious they are deadhead beginners.
We can tell your skill level by your question people.
12 AnswersHorses8 years agoHow do you guys do this?
Iv been riding 8 years, and can keep my heels really down. However my instructor playfully teases me and calls me "duck" because my toes are always pointed outward. I can stretch my toes to poi
Nt them forward but it hurts my ankles. I also naturally stand with my toes pointed outward
6 AnswersHorses8 years agoRetraining driving horse?
I saw this horse for sale, and thought it wold be cool to buy/resell him to make money while my gelding needs 3 months off due to physical issues.
He's a white Dutch warmblood, and 17'2. 6years old really outstanding conformation. Been show driving (?) in a team but never had a person on his back. I met him while visiting the farm and he is a complete catch and show stopper. I believe he is 7,500$. He's never had a person on his back.
Obviously I would also get help from a trainer, and I ride many green horses and handle foals.
What do you think?
5 AnswersHorses8 years agoHow does my quarter horses pedigree look?

9 AnswersHorses8 years agoHorse ulcers for those who knew a horse with ulcers?
This goes handin hand with my previous question.
For the horse you knew (or owned) who got ulcers, did he have a major change in attitude? Mine is a whole new horse....
Does the horse crib? How did you know he had ulcers? Ect
3 AnswersHorses8 years agoWhat does this sound like?
So I got my horse in June. He used to be super forward, and very friendly on the ground. Never bucked, only reared if you constantly pulled on his face. He's a cribber.
I got him from a woman who over jumped him and left him in a small stall.
We got him back into shape and jumped him once, where it all went downhill. I found out my saddle didn't fit. H became super irritated if you touched his girth area he would act up.
Then we had a chiropractor who came and said he tweaked a nerve in his shoulder and to give him two weeks off, we gave him a month. Then he coliced very bad and almost died. By now he's an @$$ and bites people and is very unpleasant. We treated him for ulcers then left him out for 2 weeks Then started riding him. (I got a saddle fitter to fit my saddle) he was doing really well until one day I pushed him to canter on his "bad side" when he started bucking. Now he won't walk without bucking. Whenever we touch his tummy he sometimes looks like he's in pain and sometimes doesn't.
He still bites and I never knew a horse who got as grumpy ad ulcers as him
2 AnswersHorses8 years agoDo you believe in this?
Do you believe in keeping a horse it's whole life or just a couple of years?
For instance I bought my 11 year old paint horse planning on keeping him until the end.
Obviously it doesn't always go as planned.
8 AnswersHorses8 years agoHave you ever bred your mare?
And if so why, and what did you do with the offspring?
Just wondering, I'm not planning on breeding my gelding. (LOL haha get it?)
