  • 2 Months of Pain Near Belly Button?

So, I have had 3 rounds of antibiotics and 2 of which were for UTI and a third for Bacterial Vaginosis. The UTI was cleared after 2 rounds of antibiotics and I thought the bacterial vaginosis was gone, the smell went away and no more discharge. However the main concern has been a mild pinching/stabbing pain around my belly button that sometimes radiates out to all quadrants of my abdomen, but usually near my belly button. Sometimes it feels like gas,but I usually know what gas feels like, and more often than not it is this stabbing/pinching pain that comes and goes within seconds. It went away completely for about 4 days after I finished my BV antibiotic and I thought -Finally! But then sadly, it's returned, and while not as often, it still haunts me like an unwanted rain cloud:( Ialso began abirth control, but it hasn't really changed anything either. I am about to start trying a Probiotic since Ihear that maybe after somuch antibiotic medication, my florais damaged and so the pain is risidual effect of that, but the pain has been the same with the UTI/BV/3 rounds of antibiotics with no real long-lasting solution. Like I said,it finally went away for about 4 days about aweek ago, but since then has invaded my happy life. I have stopped fretting about it to the point of tears, but I am just frustrated by the fact I am not sure what is causing it or if it will ever goaway. I am hoping the probiotics will help. I am also consulting with my physician tomorrow. She originally assured me twice about 2weeks ago when she diagnosed me with BV that the pain was from the BV, but now the antibiotics are finished, the pain has returned. Praying for some answers soon, just curious if anyone else has experienced this. It's more of amystery than aworry and I just want to solve it. Too bad I don't have a personal Dr. House.

  • Birth Control - First Time User!?

So, I began birth control (oral daily) Friday and since then I've been have bouts of nausea on-off for most of the day. They aren't severe waves, but they do make me feel off and uncomfortable as nausea normally does. It kind of makes me feel like I am constantly going up and down hills and my stomach will just sort of drop. I want to stick to my BC because my periods are so irregular and that causes other sorts of uncomfortable feelings :( but I was wondering what sort of tricks are there to using BC? I am reading a lot about taking it at night with a light snack (I've been taking mine mid morning) What sort of snacks do you take it with? I have a sensitive tummy and don't want to make things worse.

Also...a bit off topic, but after my first OBGYN appointment, I had a tad of bleeding that was like spotting soon after. It cleared up quickly, but I was wondering if this is common too? No pain either, so I figure I'm alright.

  • UTI + Bacterial Vaginosis? :(?

So, as of May 10 I have seen 3 Dr's, two have taken urine and said I had a UTI. The second Dr said there wasn't much bacteria from the initial infection though. I have taken 2 rounds of antibiotics (sulfa. and pheno.) Yesterday I saw a third Dr who swabbed me and said I had bacterial vaginosis which is why I might not be getting better. She gave me a antibiotic (Metro.) and I am on my 2nd day of it. The only real symptom I've had that bothers me is a persistent pinching/slight stabbing around my belly button. I've had some pain radiate around my abdomen, but mainly around my belly button. Initially I had cloudy urine with a slight fever, but after the first antibiotic, those symptoms went away. In general I feel fine. The pain is only a 2-4 on a pain scale, so not severe, but persistent and nothing seems to cure it for good. I'll go almost a whole day with no pains, then I'll have a day where it'll be on and off (especially at night) my dr yesterday gave me a full physical with a PAP smear and blood test for labs, and said from what she could tell as of yesterday I was fine, and that the bacterial vaginosis mimics UTI's and that this antibiotic should help. I pray it does.

My main concern is the pain, though none of the dr's have seemed concerned, I've just wondered if anyone else has had this happen? a BV mimic a UTI and have multiple rounds of treatments? Also, the pinching near belly button? No one has explained what/why that happens? I am going to find some cranberry juice/pills tomorrow as well to help.

  • UTI abdominal pain lasting 1 month +?

    UTI Pinching Abdominal Pain?

So, for anyone who has read my ongoing posts about UTI, I apologize, but the saga continues. Basically, after a month I've gone to 2 dr's and have had two antibiotics - a 3 day one (sulfa.) and a 7 day one (pheno.) and while my low grade fever cleared up, I've been plagued for the better part of the month of May with a mild (2-3 on pain scale) pinching/cramping pain around my belly button (all around about a2 in radius) - it's not severe and it is not irritated by food/drink/exercise (I do zumba) and it doesn't disrupt me, except for the fact Iam just irritated that it hasn't gone away. It comes and goes sporadically and it lasts maybe 1-2seconds and sometimes I go hours without pain (thinking that it's gone) but then it hits me and it upsets me. Anyways, I've had this UTIfor about amonth and am on the last day of my second antibiotic and am hoping the pain goes away. Anyway else have this pinching pain around the belly button that's lasted this long with a UTI? It's my first, so I am sure I am fraeking out over nothing,or so my boyfriend has said. I get distracted and busy and I don't think about it, but then it'll hit. Ithought maybe ulcers? But I don't really have pain in my stomach...it's around my belly button? It's not period cramps (I know what those are like..) Pretty much, I've researched this in and out, and so far the only thing I can find is that it is UTI related, but I can't find it related to lasting this long? I don't know. My dr's have said it is UTI related, but it just seems like after 2 antibiotics it'd all be clearedand gone. Maybe until it's absolutely gone can it actually be healed? :/Ithink I basically just need to know I'm not alone and to know that this pain is common.

  • UTI Pain lasting weeks? (now 16 days)?

So, I was tested for and diagnosed with a bladder infection last Friday (May 10) after having pinching/stabbing pains near my belly button since May 4. I was on a 3 day antibiotic that cleared up my low grade fever, but the pain still comes and goes. I got on AZO and a cranberry supp. for the past week hit and miss results. I decided to stop taking the AZO just to see if the pain might just clear up. But it's still there. Only a 2-3 on the pain scale, but sporadic. It just upsets me because I feel like I've done the right things to heal myself, but it persists. The pain isn't made worse by touch/food/movement. Although, it seems if I start to get stressed and upset about it that does irritate it. I am planning to call the Dr again and ask if I should be concerned.

I have absolutely no other symptoms and in general am in good health and feel fine - I even am able to do my zumba workout 3 x's a week and it doesnt seem to bother. I am prone to worry about my body, so I wonder how much stress/anxiety over this could be affecting my UTI.

I guess I want to either know I am not alone in experiencing a persistent UTI related pain, could there be something bigger that has been overlooked (but no symptoms), or if there are some other medicines/methods to relieve the pain.

I've also thought maybe the antibiotic I was given initially was not strong enough for the bacteria I had, perhaps my Dr gave me a low grade one in hopes it'd be enough? I'd like to think that maybe if I go back and am tested again for it I'll still have it and a different antibiotic might be the key. Hopefully, I'll at least be able to talk to a Dr this week.

  • Bladder Infection Pain?

I was suffering from lower abdominal pain and pain around my belly button for about a week before I saw a doctor and was diagnosed with a bladder infection. My symptoms: pulsing cramping pain (mild) left/right/around belly button, pelvic pain (mild), cloudy urine, and a mild fever. I finished my antibiotic this morning (3 day dose) and the only symptom that really cleared is my fever (immediately after taking one dose), my pain is still there, urine is still semi-cloudy. So, I just want to know how long until the symptoms completely go away? I've never had a bladder infection, so it kinda scares me not know exactly how to treat it (aside finishing my meds) and how long to expect effects before I should go in again to be checked out. :( Also, can anyone else confirm the type of pain you get with the bladder infection? My pain has kinda been sporadic all over my lower abdomen but mild, like tiny cramps, or someone prodding a bit hard from the inside. No burning or pain when I pee though. Anyways, if someone who's had this before especially with the abdominal pain can help me understand this illness better, I'd be less afraid of it. :(

Thank you for any help! <3

  • Period Symptoms? - Painful gas?

I am new, so not sure how this all works, but I am a bit worried, but often find I blow things out of proportion...anyway

I am 25 years old and am in the last week of finals in grad school.

I have always had very irregular periods since I was a teenager, and just when they seem to get on a normal cycle, they disappear for a couple of months and reset for an unknown start date.

I hadn't had a period since late Dec 12' and it came back April 8 and lasted normally, but leading up to it I had a symptom I'd never had - mid stomach cramping/pinching/stabbing pains near my belly button. The pain is quick and usually dull and comes and goes within 2-5 seconds and didn't disrupt me, except for causing worry because (unknowingly my period was about to start) I had no idea why I was having this pain. It was like this for about 3 days then my period began and that pain didn't come back. Until now. It's about time for my period to start (if it's gotten on a new cycle) and it's been 5 days now with this same dull stabbing/pinching/cramping pain in my mid-upper stomach. It makes me worry and the worry causes nausea - yeah, aren't I fun?

Anyways, I've tried to chalk it up to gas because when I do pass gas, it seems to relieve a bloated pressure feeling (although the pain still comes/goes) I'm praying my period shows soon because then I feel like I can attribute this pain/discomfort to period symptoms (just a new one for me)

Anyways, has anyone else had this sort of discomfort before periods? My other period symptoms seem normal (at least last April and now - queasy/fatigue/bloated/constipated/gassy)

I guess I want to know I'm not alone or if there is another reason why this is happening - it's the fact that I don't know what it is - that's what upsets me

  • Stomache - Is it food posioning?

So, warning there is maybe TMI so please don't read more if you're only to be rude or gross. Also, please give full answers, single word answers are not helpful.

Ugh, so I am HOPING this is all just painful and long indigestion...so first today was birthday and I went out for a HUGE lunch with my friend and I had...too much I think...queso/salsa/chips shared...side salad with balsamic dressing...chicken pot pie...and a shared dessert cookie/icecream thing...

that all was about 1pm this afternoon, i took a nap around 5 and woke up at 530 feeling kind bleh, but then started getting stomach cramps in my upper stomach (kind of like a punch in the gut) and they would come in waves. I drank cold water and went out with friends for a little bit but all the while dealing with waves of upper-middle stomach cramps/pain- I went to the bathroom once and had a pretty intense amount of diarrhea. I felt a LOT better and thought that'd be the end of my suffering. Not so :( I went back to the table feeling confident I'd start feeling better- but sadly a wave of pain crashed that hope. I ended up leaving early and as I got home I had to run into the house for another violent round of diarrhea. Again, feeling MUCH better (less bloated/tight) and along with some relieving burps, I again thought I was on the upside. My waves of pain were less frequent for about another 2-3 hours, though after all the ups/downs I'd taken I've been queasy/mildly nauseous since. But around 10:30PM I felt the waves of pain again, though now the pain is located in my lower stomach- kind of like bad/painful gas. But just within the last hour (12am-now) I've had one more fairly bad diarrhea run and then another less violent one. They leave me feeling semi-relief but mostly just tired/drained/queasy.

I've been drinking lots of water and peeing frequently in hopes to pee out this mess. Some other possible helpful info- I'm in the last 2 days of my period so I am not sure if that's playing part into the reason for this onset of symptoms or at least contributing to the severity of them. Our AC got knocked out (and I live in TX where it's been about 100 in the afternoon) and it wont be fixed until tomorrow. Heat + stomach problems = always bad news for me. When I get hot I get WAY more anxious when my stomach is on the fritz. I also tend to fret when my stomach doesn't feel well anyway, so I've been sitting in front of my fans with ice packs across my stomach and ice water at my side trying to stay cool.

I am frustrated, upset, and scared because I don't know whats wrong and want some opnions as to what might have happened. Also, no fever or other symptoms, just stomach pain that's moved from upper to lower part of my stomach and diarrhea.

Please only helpful and friendly answers :(

  • How to know if stomach bug is getting better?

So, I got the stomach bug- started feeling kinda bad Friday, felt off all day yesterday with little appetite. Woke up this morning feeling ok- I ate a donut for breakfast and a sandwich for lunch. My stomach started to hurt and grumble late morning and I thought I was hungry so I ate like normal. But afterwards I felt awful. I had more rumbling and bubbling feelings with waves of moderate stomach pains. Thankfully, I am not plagued with vomitting, but I have had the runs quite badly. I laid in bed all day with ice water and mint gum to minimize the nausea and queasy feeling. I also had a fever of about 100-100.2 and went up and down to 99.2 so not sure what that means. I stopped drinking water for a little while and my runs stopped (assuming it was from not drinking water) but I did keep taking very tiny sips. I took a shower and felt a lot better. I went for a couple of hours without going to the bathroom and even fell asleep and felt fairly normal. I thought, "oh good, it's letting up." But I woke up about 3 hours later with rumbling again (ARGH) and sure enough had to run to the bathroom and sat...for a while too :( it was like it had saved up over those several hours... sorry for the graphic-ness... Anyway, its about 2:30 am now and my stomach feeling very heavy and bloated. I have also kept ice packs on my stomach to keep the heated feeling low. It stopped rumbling, but it still feels uneasy (as it's been the last 14 hours). Also, (again sorry for graphic ness) my runs have been very yellow and very very loose- like nothing at all solid, ugh, feels awful. Also, another discomfort that I can't explain- my bathroom upstairs is broken (awesome timing...) so I go downstairs and when I'm done I feel totally wiped out and when I stand up I feel like I'll pass out. I go up the stairs and my stomach feels at its worst! It feels like it's been shaken and stirred crazy and my heart pounds and I feel like I'll faint by the time I come back upstairs. Not sure how that's connected to my illness except that the fatigue of the runs makes it hard to go upstairs? Once I lay back down, I feel ok again, but I just was hoping for someone to give insight as to how long this might last? How do I know I'm getting better? Does it sound like I'm getting better at all? How I can ease any discomfort? How to stay asleep? Also, explain the up and down fever? The extreme tiredness after going up/down stairs?

Please be kind. I rarely get the stomach bug, in fact, I think the last time I had a stomach bug was 3 yrs ago.

  • Stomach Aches at night...?

So, the past several nights I've been having burning/nauseous stomach- it's even woken me up. I also get the shivers and my legs even cramp like growing pains. There's a little pain- not much, mostly gas- but its the burning/nausea that keeps me up- and I am very tired. I eventually fall asleep, but it's not comfortable. My stomach feels heavy and bloated. If I drink cold water and put an ice pack over my stomach it seems to help- but I'd rather prevent/stop this all together...

My biggest suspicion is that it might be my period sneaking up on me- though it's making its presence known through my stomach (if that's what it is) I've always been irregular and have dealt with it. But I just don't know any one else who feels this way before her period? If so, I just want to know I'm not alone or that all these symptoms could be caused by my upcoming period? Anyways, let me know any advice to make me more comfortable.

So, I've been in Ireland for 3 months and have been good until now...I lost my ability to get online in the evenings in my room and skype with friends and family. my internet just has stopped working in my room for some reason and I've talked to about 4-5 people and no one can help me. I've been told it's most likely the logic board in my mac and it's not worth getting replaced here (expense/time) for only the month I have left (I go home to TX May 18) but I am now getting back to my room and feeling VERY lonely. I can get onto campus and use the wireless connection but I cant talk to my family because of the time they could get on (normally about midnight my time) but the campus closes at like 10/11

I am sad and I feel like this next month is going to just creep by...

  • Airsick or stomach bug?

Sooo I just flew into NYC!!! VERY AWESOME :D However, I flew from San Antonio, TX and landed in Atlanta, GA and was VERY hungry so ate a chicken wrap and chips and water. About 20 mins after before we had to board I felt SICK! I felt VERY nauseous, but went to the restroom twice with two bowel movements- not loose/watery- normal. Felt a bit better, and when I got to the plane- sat down- felt fine. Felt fine when I landed in NYC but started walking and felt yucky again! When I sit down and stay sitting I feel fine even a bit hungry. But I am afraid when I get up I will feel bad again. My boyfriend thinks I got Air-sickness which is likely, often after a flight I feel queezy for the rest of the day. I feel better by morning, but I don't remmeber feeling this queezy and nauseous before. Ugh- any ideas? Anyone can relate? I pray I feel better by tomorrow I want to enjoy my trip!

  • Stomach Ache keeping me up- help please :(?

so, I think it's my fault, but my stomach is keeping me up. I have waves of nausea some mild pains in my stomach and intestines' area. Worst of all is the chills. whenever I get a stomach ache I get the shakes and shivers like I am really cold. My stomach is making weird sounds some gurgles and I am gassy and have burped a few times. I just had a bowel movement which I am hoping helped. I felt a bit better afterward but I still have all this uneasy pressure feeling built up in me.

I say it's my fault because my bf and I went out for this really nice dinner which we both had a pretty big meal and then some vanilla custard to share. We went to a movie (hes not that in to you- loved it) and on the way home we passed Krispy Kreme and we each ate 1 doughnut-only one. I felt ok as I was getting ready for bed about 1230am but around 115 I started feeling craaappy and now I dunno...just wanna sleep so tired but cant- any ideas?

So I am in the second day of my period (can't sleep tonight at all) I feel VERY bloated and my stomach keeps gurgling and bubbling and growling like I'm hungry- but I dont want to eat at 5 am- one cause the idea of food sounds awful right now, and 2 I am afraid it'll make me feel worse- I've never had such a noisy stomach during my period- any reason? last thing I ate was a whole wheat sandwhich with plain deli turkey and that's it- no cheese, dressings, veggies- didn't even finish it.

Any ideas why I am rumbly in my tumbly? It's very annoying and has kept me up all night long :(
